A/N:  I'm sorry I keep having so many breaks in this story everyone.  I've been rather stressed out, for my only living grandfather I had left passed away less than two weeks ago.  I've also been trying to help my mom around the house, since my stepfather has limited mobility at the moment (hip replacement).  If you don't care, then I guess you have no heart.  Thank you to those of you who have stuck with me after so long.  =)

Anyway...

Akuma’s POV  (Rikiya)

I watched Mai in silence.  She was hiding something from me—I could sense it.  Although we needed to keep up our quick pace so we could get to Amaya’s pack as soon as possible, I needed to know whatever it was that Mai was not telling me.  I stopped abruptly in front of her.  She looked up at me, stunned.

“What are you not telling me Mai?”

“I… I don’t know what you mean,” she replied dully, “We need to keep moving; Amaya needs—oof!”

I had tripped her when she tried to maneuver around me.  I nearly laughed when she glared at me. “Tell me.”

“It’s nothing.”

“If you don’t tell me, I’ll be doing a lot more than just tripping you,” I growled.

She shifted uncomfortably, “I just… called an old friend to see if they would be willing to help us out.”

Right,” I replied sarcastically, “Because you wouldn’t have told me something that mundane… unless, of course, this ‘old friend’ is an ‘enemy’ of mine.”

She sighed as if she was deciding to tell me everything.  “It is Sara’s pack.”

I stood there shocked.  That name was all too familiar…

Hayate’s POV

Sara?!” I repeated.

Sara was the only female Alpha on the west coast of North America… and one of the most wanted shifters in the world.  Many, many years ago, Sara and her pack were beyond corrupt.  They were nearly as bad as Kottan’s pack.  She had gotten her pack into many fights with vampires and shifters alike.  She had let her pack members do as they please—no matter what that may be.

Some say that she changed dramatically after she found her mate.  It is said that his presence allowed her to see the wrong in what she had done.  Despite her new found guilty conscience, many super-naturals wanted her head.  When she was pregnant with her first born, she and her mate were attacked.  Her mate was killed, but it is said that someone saved Sara and her child.  I did not know why she would be willing to help us for Amaya’s sake at the risk of being found by her enemies.

The thing that I was worried about, concerning Sara and her pack, was the fact that she was Harou Kottan’s daughter.
