I recently stumbled across this genre on Wattpad. It's disgusting.
I just want to start off by saying that I hate this type of romance! It's terrible. Not terrible as in written poorly, but terrible in concept. It's not cliched, but it needs to end. Honestly, it makes me sick. In what world does a person who is bullied suddenly fall for their bully? It's horrible. Bullies don't deserve to have a romance. To constantly go out of your way to hurt someone FOR FUN is inhuman! For those of you who don't know, The Bully Romance is when the main character is constantly bullied and in the worst ways. After a series of events, she falls in love with him. How is this possible!? Even if he "changed" wouldn't the memories still haunt you? If I were in the Main Character's position, I would never want to romantically involved, no matter how much guilt he feels.
If you are a bully, you seriously need to evaluate your life. There are people who commit suicide because of you. If you are unhappy, that's no excuse for bullying someone. If you are upset, you need to talk to someone about it, not hurt people physically and emotionally. Your actions can affect someone's life.
If you are bullied, reach out to people. Your family, friends, teachers are there for you. Don't hurt yourself or commit suicide. Know that people care.
If you are writing these Bully-Romance stories, can you explain the appeal? Because it makes no sense to me.
I would like to see more stories where the main character falls for the person who saves him/her from the bully.
