I walked through the school hallways, with Juli by my side. I was telling her about my ride with Kevin, and the girl was just taking everything way too seriously. The things she thought yesterday could lead to...well let's just say I hoped it was realistic.
But they weren't. Yesterday kinda proved that. The boy didn't even know what grade I was in! I have been to all his games, and yet he never saw me?!
Psss, why was I surprised? I knew this. This little crush I had, it was getting stupid. It needed it to end. It needed to end quickly.
"I mean, he picked you up?" Juli laughed. "I like him." She nodded with pure pleasure in her eyes.
I rolled my eyes. "This is your fault, you know? You just had to have that stupid reunion." I said.
She frowned. "Don't call it stupid, b*tch." I laughed. "Well, I'm hanging out with Micheal today. What are your plans for today?" Juli asked.
"Im actually going somewhere with Ty. I have no idea where though." I said. I guess Ty would tell me where the destination was soon.
Juli put her hand on her forehead and rolled her eyes. "Ty? Make sure he doesn't kidnap you." I laughed.
"I will." I said, pushing her shoulder.
"I'm serious. That boy has issues. He's so fine though. I get why you would go out with him but be careful." She said giving me one of her rare 'serious Juli face'.
I nodded. She was so worried, it was kind of funny. I knew Ty was a bit weird, but he was harmless. "I'll be careful, Juli."
The bell rang and we struggled past the other kids. My eyes suddenly landed on Kevin. He was walking towards my direction. Immediately, I felt my cheeks warm up. I thought I was going to forget about this crush. But I knew I really wasn't. I mean, I am notorious for being stubborn.
He was nearing me and I felt Juli's elbow on my shoulder. I groaned and turned to look at her. "For goodness's sake Juliana, you are sixteen years old!" I said. She ignored me though and her eyes were focused ahead, excitedly on Kevin.
I looked back just in time to find Kevin's eyes on me. Wave? Smile? Look away?
Nothing passed by his eyes. No recognition look. No excitement. Nothing, just nothing. His eyes looked blank as he passed by. Soon, he looked away. Then, he was gone.
My whole mood went down. Juli's mouth fell apart. She spun around with anger in her eyes. I knew who she was headed for, so I quickly grasped her hand in mines and walked her away.
Going after him to tell him not to ignore me would be completely idiotic. It was his choise, and I could not change that. So what if I was hurt?! I had this stupid crush for years and never did he pay attention to me! Why expect it now?
Juli yanked her hand away from mines. "Why you did that?! That nigga just walked pass like he doesn't even know you!" She yelled.
"That's cause he doesn't." I said in an obvious tone. "Just cause he gave me a ride don't mean he gotta talk to me."
"But man, that was disrespectful. He lucky that you ain't me." She said pointing at me then to herself.
"I'm lucky too." I joked.
Juli laughed along and slapped my shoulder. We walked ro our classrooms. Soon, we separated ways and made it to our classes.
I took a seat and waited for my teacher to start. Ms. Jenn looked at us and smiled. "Welcome class!" She clasped her hands excitedly. We groaned. Whenever she was excited like this, she was about to assign us some irrelevant project.
