I bounced the basketball in my hands unto the court's hard ground. I glanced at the hoop then back at the ground where the ball was. I changed my position, and bent my knees, so that when I shoot, it would fly right into the net.
Before I was able to shoot though, the ball was snatched from my hands with Marcus's annoying ass voice in my ear.
"Yeet!" He howled with laughter while I frowned in annoyance.
His hands were on his knees and then he pointed at me with his right index finger. "You suck, my nigga." He laughed.
"You suck dick." I replied back sourly. My words didn't affect Marcus at all as he continued to howl in laughter.
"Stick to your own game, Brown." Marcus annoyingly patted my shoulder. "Basketball is not for you."
I rolled my eyes. Just because Marcus was great in both basketball and football, he made it seem like my skills in Basketball was lesser than. And I know I was no Lebron James, but I could play.
I rolled my eyes at him. For a few minutes Marcus and I played one on one. Of course in the end he beat me. But fortunately, it was only by two points that he won. I took the ball from him, bouncing it as we walked away from the court. I challenged Marcus to a race that he wasn't even informed about and begin to run to my car.
"You cheat!" He yelled at me. I laughed as I advanced closer and closer to my destination.
When I reached it, I turned around and saw Marcus throw up his hands in annoyance and stop running. I laugh at him as he walks up to me, the expression of a loser plastered on his ugly ass face.
"You're a cheat." He slumps on my car, his body heaving up and down.
"Only when I want to be." I laugh.
"And you're a sore ass loser too." He says.
I shrug and opened the door of my car. Marcus and I got inside. "So you wanna head to my place or-"
"Yeah. Cause I got nothing else to do." I said, glancing at him. "So I'm going to head up to your place and waste my time there."
"Man, that would be nice! I heard there was some party tonight and..." I barely heard the rest of his words. I was too focused on how stupid he was to not understand my use of sarcasm.
"So, hows everything going with Audrey?" I asked. Marcus smiled at me.
"It's going pretty good. To be honest I never have been this happy in a relationship, man. She's so good to me, you know? Well, you wouldn't know. You haven't been in a serious relationship in years." Salty.
"That's great for you. For me, though. I'm too busy for that shit." I said.
Marcus shrugged then sighed. "If you want me to be honest with you though, I've been happy with Audrey, but somethings aren't making me too happy right now. Juliana has some type of issue with her, and she's not listening to anyone that tells her to let it go. Like she's so stubborn bruh. And she don't even have a specific reason why she got beef with her. And dude ya know Audrey don't play. She's being cool about it but..."
"I think Juli is hurting her feelings. And this girl already has too much on her plate. Audrey isn't as happy as I think she should be. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who's happy in this relationship. And she just won't open up to me, man. I know something's bothering her but she won't tell me anything. I really really like this girl and it just...it bothers me seeing her like that..." Marcus sighs and looks out the window.
I had no idea what to say to comfort him. I wasn't the best at saying the right thing. But I could tell Marcus really liked her, and although I've never been in a situation like this, I could see this was hurting him.
"I don't know what to say. All I can tell you is that you better be there for her." I said glancing at his figure. "And for some reason, I don't think you'll disappoint."
He grins. "Thanks man."
A moment of silence fills up the car. Then Marcus speaks up again. "A relationship can be stressful so I'm not gonna try to persuade you to get away from the single life. But, Sabienne?" He shoots a sly smile at me.
I roll my eyes. "She's cool but she's not my type."
"Well I think you're definitely her type." Marcus says.
"She said that?" I smirked. "She would never say that to me."
"Wait no! Don't go telling her I told you she said that. I want to live and graduate and go to college, then start.."
"I get that, man." I laughed. "But I would be happy to plan your funeral."
Marcus slumped on his his seat and groaned. "No. For real. Don't tell her. She didn't even tell me that. I overheard that."
I laughed. "Okay okay. I'll try to not let it slip. No promises though."
"But for real she isn't my type. I'm trying to get to Lorane though. For one night probably. You know, I'm good with the single life."
Marcus raised a brow. "Yeah, I know, I know."
"But Lorane, though? One night? I don't think so." He said and I shrugged.
Grinning, I said, "you're like the only nigga I know who ain't crazy about being single. Everyone else just jumps from girls to girls."
"And that's why I get all the ladies, my man." He laughed. "I'm a whole man out her. Y'all boys can't relate."
I shook my head and laughed.
In a couple of minutes we reached his house. He got out quickly and I was going to pull away into the driveway. Marcus looked back with shock and confusion plastered on his face.
"I got stuff to do!"
In a couple of seconds my ass was being pulled out the car and past Marcus's front door. I stared at him, wide eyed. "You enjoy my company that much?"
"Don't flatter yourself. I'm just too bored today." He said as we walked inside.
"Whatever. What you wanna do anyway?"
"Playstation." That one word, and I was in.
We settled on the couch in front of Marcus's huge TV and I beat him mercilessly in a game of Call of Duty Black Ops 3.
"Ughhh!" Marcus yelled in frustration. I smirked. "You know what? Let's take a break. How 'bout we eat something?"
I laughed. "Okay, no problem."
He got up and went to the kitchen. "I can't find anything. Juli probably has all the chips in her room. Kevin, can you go look up in her room, while I search here?"
"What?! No!" I said glaring at him. "I'm not going up to her room-"
"She's not even here. It'll be quick."
"Okay fine."
I quickly walked up to what I thought was Juli's room. I didn't knock since Marcus had said she wasn't even there.
But I'm a dumsss. and I definitely should have knocked.
