Chapter 9

I was sitting in the living room doing some home work. We have only been living in London for about two weeks and I decided to start summer classes at the university that my father's job was paying. I had to admit I was pretty thankful for that. I really do not know anyone around here and I figured that if I do the summer course then I will be a little preoccupied. To be honest I have been trying to avoid any thoughts of my mother or of Harry.

Ever since I saw him at the airport I haven't been able to stop thinking about him. The only image that had been roaming in my head is the image of his eyes. I've even been having nightmares. It's always the same nightmare. My mother's cold body lying on the ground as I try to bring her back to life. Last night was a little different though.

The nightmare started the same. I was trying to bring my mother back to life. I yelled and screamed her name begging her to wake up, but she wouldn't. Then out of nowhere Harry came into the picture. He was standing over me as I was on the ground next to my mother. I looked up at him. My eyes meeting his green orbs. He stretched out his arm asking for me to take his hand. Some how I knew that I should take it. I wanted to take his hand, but I couldn't. There was something holding me back. It was like as much as I tried to move from the ground where my mother laid; I couldn't move. I couldn't seem to leave my mother behind.

“Do you have class today?” My stepmother asked me waking me from my thoughts.

“Uh no. I just want to study and have a ton of homework. I think I am going to go study at a cafe near my school. I think I need a change of scenery,” I said.

“Alright. Are you going to be home for dinner?” she asked.

“I should be. It's not like I actually have anything to do,” I laughed.

She smiled and I made my way out gathering my books.

When I got to the cafe I ordered myself some tea and sat at a far table in the back of the cafe. I come in here sometimes to study before class. The cafe was cozy and small, but a lot of students seemed to enjoy coming here for a little studying.

I began to read the book that my professor had assigned for me to read when a red haired girl began to make a lot of noise. She was arguing with one of the guys at the cash register and I could tell that he was pretty embarrassed about the whole situation. He kept asking her to lower her voice, but she just screamed even louder.

“You scumbag!” She yelled throwing her hands in the air, “Ugh I hate you!”

She turned around meeting my gaze. I tried to look away as quick as possible hoping that she didn't notice I was listening to the whole argument. I looked down at my book then tried to sneak a peak at her wondering if she was still staring at me. I looked up and saw her starting to make her way towards me.

Crap.

“Hey,” she said her tone a little strong.

“Uh hey,” I said.

“You're Nicollette, right?” She asked.

“Um yea,” I said wondering how she knew who I was.

She pulled out a chair and sat down at my table making herself comfortable.

“I am not stalking you or anything we have a class together. Actually we have two reading and that dreadful speech class,” she spoke with so much confidence.
