I loved both of the Hood siblings. Calum and Adrianne were two of my favorite people in the entire world and I'd rather dive straight into the Bermuda Triangle than choose between them - I don't know how you possibly could. They were two completely different people.

Within the duration of time I'd known both the Hoods, though, Calum had just proved himself to ultimately be the more... compassionate one. In fact, I happened to have an ongoing list in my mind of instances where he validated himself as so.

There was a time a while back in eighth grade when Cal insisted I wear his spare pair of sweatpants (which he never asked for back) that he kept in his gym locker after I miraculously somehow managed to spill chocolate milk all over the crotch of my white denim jeans. And then of course there was always that time where he offered to take me to junior prom after my initial date had an insanely last minute midlife crisis and came to the conclusion that he was gay two hours before the dance. Ridiculous and extremely incon-fucking-venient, I'm aware, but the marigolds and chocolate muffin and huge dopey smile Calum brought to my doorstep with his suit and tie slipped over him made up for everything. Really.

I loved both of the Hoods, they were two of my favorite people in the entire world. And I loved Adrianne, I did, but there was a part of me that knew that Calum would always be down to help me out, no matter how crazy the deed was, whilst Adrianne would only give in if she happened to be feeling like doing so.

...Which was why I called Calum, not Adri, and asked Calum if he'd be able to drive me to the hospital for work this afternoon because I may or may not have forgotten to fill my car up with gas. Of course, Calum said yes. Adri would have howled in my face.

"Aren't you supposed to be working days now that school's over?" Cal questioned as he turned the steering wheel and pulled into the hospital's parking deck. It was an understandable question, considering it was already four in the afternoon and typically, ever since I've graduated, I'd head to the hospital at the same time as my Mom, which was around seven in the morning.

"Yeah," I told him, nodding and watching as he parked his car into an empty spot by the elevator. I silently thanked him for doing so, otherwise I'd have to use the stairs towards the back of the deck like my Mom and I had to do sometimes in the early mornings when the elevators weren't functioning properly yet - it literally would've taken me an extra ten minutes just to walk up to the main level. "Luke texted me this morning and told me he'd be busy having tests done on him the entire morning, though. I just decided to wait until the afternoon to come over."
