without losing a piece of me, how do i get to heaven?
without changing a part of me, how do i get to heaven?
all my time is wasted, feeling like my heart's mistaken, oh
so if i'm losing a piece of me,
maybe i don't want heaven.

fallon.
My top and bottom lip were both tightly pressed together as I continued to stare long and hard at the door in front of me with my hands were fisting the sheets and my toes curled anxiously into the carpet beneath them. I could almost actually hear my heart pulsing - when was the last time I'd been this anxious?
"Okay," Adrianne sighed from behind me, prompting me to turn around and face her. "Can you please stop staring at my door like it killed your first born child?"
Immediately, I let Adri's sheets slip from my fingers and sucked in a deep breath, allowing myself to calm down.
Ever since I left Calum alone at Melinda's to confront Ben, as per Jaclyn's request, everything had been so painfully awkward.
I'd texted him at the very least thirty times the next day trying to apologize to him and I'd even called once or twice, and I got nothing back. All of my texts were left unanswered, all of my calls were unreturned - I hadn't spoken to him in a week. It felt wrong. Like, torturously wrong.
"You're sure he isn't home?" I had to ask the blonde again, watching curiously as she pulled out different sorts of pieces from her closet and tossed them onto her comforter.
Adri paused to look at me tiredly, with her eyebrows raised. "I promise you that he's at work, okay? When are you planning on telling me exactly what happened?"
"Cal hasn't said anything?"
"He told me that you left him alone at the restaurant because your Mom was sick, but I don't buy that for a minute."
"What? Why not?" I folded my arms and narrowed my arms defensively - was I not a good liar?
"Because you're not a good liar, Fallon." Adri confirmed, shrugging her shoulders like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which, it probably was. "If your Mom really wasn't feeling well, you would've texted me and asked me to buy her soup from Panera and bring it over to your place."
I pursed my lips and sunk deeper into Adri's mattress, bumping my head back against her wooden headboard, defeatedly. I'd forgotten all about that, godamnit.
