Kaitlin's POV

"You and Chase are gonna get it on," Maci said laughing.

I rolled my eyes at her. I wasn't going to lie, I was excited for my date with Chase. It was my first real date since I've been here, and my first real date with Chase. It was insane to think of how much he changed. I felt guilt rise up in me. I don't think it was fair that I said yes now. I shook the thought out of my head. That was before. Clearly, he didn't mind either. I rolled my eyeliner in between my fingers.

"Why are you so nervous?" Maci asked.

I took a deep breath.

"I don't know," i said.

I brought the eyeliner to my eye and dragged it along the bottom. I touched it up and carefully winged the end.

"Does this look good?" I asked Maci.

She looked up and nodded. I repeated it on the other eye.

"Are they even?" I asked again.

"Yes, Kaitlin," she huffed.

I rolled my eyes, grabbing my mascara. I brought it to the bottom of my eyelashes, or as close as I could get without stabbing my eye, and dragged the brush up my eyelashes. I pulled away and looked at it. I got the bottom good. I leaned back into the mirror and started again. When I finished, they were dark black and long, the way I wanted them.

"Are th-"

"Yes, they look good Kaitlin," she says.

I don't say anything as I walk past her to my bedroom. I can tell she's following me. I would yell at her, but I know I need her help. She pushes past me and goes right to my closet.

"Your wearing a scarf," she announces.

"Got it," I chuckle.

She shifts through my closet.

"This is so cute, why haven't I worn it yet?" She asks.

I can't tell is she's honestly asking herself or just trying to be funny. My stomach was twisted in too many knots to laugh. What if he kisses me? What if I think of Harry? I mentally slap myself. I just did think of him. I rolled my eyes. I'm going on a date with Chase, I don't care about Harry.

"Kaitlin," Maci sings trying to get my attention.

I turn to look at her.

"Sorry," I mumble.

"How about this?" She asks.

It was a plain blue long sleeve shirt, a scarf and jeans. I shook my head at her. She spun around and started again. I watched as she pulled out a few shirts but quickly put them back.

She grabbed an ugly green colored jacket and a white tank top.

"Put this on," she says.

"Ew, no," I say, grabbing it with the tips of my fingers.

She rolled her eyes as if to say it wasn't an option. I sighed.

I put on the jacket like she wanted. She threw the scarf at me and I wrapped it around my neck like she asked. She looked me up and down.

"I like it," she announced.

"Pants maybe?" I asked.

"Oh," she says, half laughing.

She spun back to my closet. She pushed my shirts to the side and grabbed the hangers with jeans on them she pulled out a light blue pair and held them up next to me. She shook her head and put them back. She tried a few pair but didn't like any of them.

"Are you sure that's all you have?" She whined.

I got up to look for myself. I pulled out a black pair and a red pair.

"Well, the red matches," I say laughing, pulling them up next to the green.

"Oh my god, hell no Kaitlin," she says.

"Hell no, Kaitlin," I mocked under my breathe.

She grabbed the black pair and threw them, again, at me. I slipped them on, knowing that's what she wanted. I shimmied into them as she determined if they were going to match. Her eyes went wide as I stood and turned for her.

"Kaitlin, it looks so good on you!" She says.

"I know," I scoff playfully.

She giggles. We both turn our heads to my door as we head the front door open.

"I've arrived!" Sam yells.

I follow Maci out of my room to go see my brother. He playfully whistles at me.

"And where do you think you are going?" He asks raising an eyebrow at me.

"On a date," I sang, my cheeks growing pink.

He grabbed my scarf and pulled it off my neck. He pulled on it and cringed as it stayed together.

"What the hell is this?" He asked.

"It's called an infinity scarf," I said.

"Even I knew that," my mother says from the couch, with that tone we all know means she's judging us.

I stuck my tongue out at him and turned to join Maci in the kitchen. I stop as I hear a knock on the door. My eyes grow wide.

"Shit," I say.

I turned to Sam.

"Give me that. Get the door, please. It's Chase," I say.

I run up the stairs to grab my phone and purse. I quickly go into the bathroom and put my scarf on. I look myself up and down. I fixed a small bump on my head before heading downstairs.

"Woah, Chase, your, I mean, you look-"

"Sam," I say, trying to solve the awkward position he just put himself in. I hop off the last step and join Sam and Chase. I feel my mom stand next to Sam. Sam looks between Chase and I before pushing me towards hims.

"Have fun," he calls, and slams the door.

I turn to face Chase, my cheeks red.

"Hi," I say.
