Soraru stated down at the piece of paper in his hands. He'd been working on this for weeks, writing and rewriting things until they finally blended together in just the right way. For a moment, satisfaction had passed through him at the thought that he had finally finished it, but now he was only left with anxiety. It was done, but what to do with it now? He doubted he had the confidence to actually give it to the person it was meant for. Said person was currently sitting right across from him at a table in Soraru's home. The person, Soraru's (beloved) friend MafuMafu, was busily working on his own project at the moment, something that was undoubtedly related to the two's latest album work. MafuMafu always got so focused whenever he was working, making such a concentrated expression. Though, MafuMafu's expressions never did much for Soraru's concentration.

"Hey, Soraru-san, if I make this note higher and lower these two, do you think it would sound better? Or should I keep it the way it is?" MafuMafu asked before playing a section of music and pointing out which notes he was talking about.

Anything you make sounds perfect to me, Soraru thought, but he didn't dare say such a thing and instead replied with, "I think it sounds fine the way it is, but it's up to you."

MafuMafu looked over at him and noticed the piece of paper in Soraru's hands for the first time. "Oh, what's that?"

"Nothing!" Soraru answered quickly.

He tried to hide the paper behind his back, but it was too late. MafuMafu had already reached over and snatched the paper out of his grasp.

"Hey, give it back!" Soraru exclaimed, trying in vain to get the paper back from MafuMafu.

"Aw, why don't you want me to see it, Soraru-san? Are you embarrassed about sharing your lyrics again?" MafuMafu asked with a small, amused smile, his red eyes scanning over the paper with curiosity.

It was more than that. These lyrics, this song, it was everything Soraru wanted to tell him. All the words that had always been thought but never said, Soraru spilled all of them into that song. That stupid, cheesy love song. Everything about it was terribly cliche, but Soraru didn't know how to write it any other way. His whole love life sounded like a terrible shoujo manga, honestly.

"Just give it back already," Soraru attempted to take the paper back again, but MafuMafu held it out of his reach.

Stupid table, getting in the way at a time like this.

"I didn't know you wrote love songs, Soraru-san. It's really cute," MafuMafu turned his gaze to Soraru. "Is this for a friend?"

"I suppose you could say that..." Soraru muttered, his face already starting to turn red.

MafuMafu thought someone had asked Soraru to write that song, like what happened to MafuMafu himself not too long ago. Soraru wasn't quite sure if he was relieved or irritated by this.

"Really? Who's it for?" MafuMafu asked, clearly interested.

It's for you, idiot, Soraru thought in exasperation. Yet again, he couldn't find the strength to say what he meant, letting the words fall away unheard.

"It's not important. So, can you just give it back now?" Soraru was close to pleading at this point and tried to cover it up with annoyance.

"Just let me look at it a little longer. I really like the song, actually," MafuMafu replied before going back to reading over the lyrics on the page.

Soraru merely stared at him, blushing more than he would've liked. Somehow, the fact that MafuMafu liked the song without even knowing it was for him made Soraru's stomach fill with butterflies. Though, he soon felt stupid when he remembered that he had specifically made the song for MafuMafu and MafuMafu alone. Everything from the song's melody to the pitch of the notes was catered exactly to MafuMafu's tastes, so it wasn't surprising that he liked it. The only thing that wasn't based on MafuMafu's interests was the lyrics, which were instead Soraru's. At least Soraru could say he put a lot of thought into it. Yet when MafuMafu suddenly started singing the song quietly to himself, Soraru felt like he was going to die and planted his face onto the surface of the table. This was too much. He seriously was going to die at this rate.

Soraru's choice in pitch was spot on, suiting MafuMafu's sweet and melodic voice perfectly. The soothing tone seemed to fill the entire room, like a warm blanket settling over the area. Soraru would've been content to sit here and listen to MafuMafu's voice forever, had the words he was singing not been so embarrassing. Having all of his words sung so sweetly back to him was like stabbing Soraru in the chest. Well, maybe that was a little over-dramatic, but it was still so awful that Soraru wanted to crawl in a hole and die.

"I never pictured you as the kind of person who would write love songs, Soraru-san, but you're actually really good at it," MafuMafu complimented once he finished singing.

"Thanks," Soraru deadpanned.

He was starting to wish he had just ripped the stupid paper to shreds.

"I especially like this line here: 'Wanting to convey such feelings to you, even as cowardly as I am I'll continue trying'. That's such a sweet thing to think about," MafuMafu continued. "Someone trying so hard to get their feelings across to someone else, giving it their all until the very end... Hey, how does it end?"

"How does what end?" Soraru asked flatly. This conversation certainly wasn't ending any time soon.

"For the person in this song. Does the person they have feelings for feel the same?" MafuMafu elaborated.

"You tell me," Soraru sighed. If he knew the answer to that, then they wouldn't be doing this right now.

MafuMafu frowned in confusion. "But I'm not the one who wrote it. Plus, if you leave the ending up to me, I'll just end up making it sad. That's pretty much what I always do."

"That's true," Soraru agreed. That wasn't a very reassuring thought.

"Well, at least give me something to work with if you're not going to tell me how it ends. For instance, who's the person that they like?" MafuMafu inquired.

Soraru moved his head just enough so that he could look at MafuMafu and pointed to the white-haired male wordlessly. MafuMafu blinked in confusion at this.

"Eh? I don't get it," MafuMafu said while furrowing his brows in puzzlement.

"It's you, idiot. The song is supposed to be sung to you," Soraru explained awkwardly, avoiding MafuMafu's gaze.

"So, the person singing it is...?" MafuMafu trailed off.

"Me..." Soraru muttered almost inaudibly.

MafuMafu stared at him in stunned silence for a long while, and Soraru was beginning to worry that maybe he shouldn't have said that. Just then, MafuMafu's face broke into a grin and he brought the paper closer to his chest.

"Soraru-san! That's one of the sweetest confessions I've ever heard!" MafuMafu exclaimed happily.

"Huh?" Soraru sat up straight for the first time since MafuMafu took his paper.

Suddenly, MafuMafu leaned across the table and planted a quick, chaste kiss on Soraru's lips. Soraru was so taken aback that he couldn't even remember how to breathe for a second.

MafuMafu giggled. "So, even Soraru-san has a cute side to him, huh?"

"Sh-Shut up..." Soraru muttered quietly, his whole face bright red as what just happened finally sank in.

"Still, to think that you wrote a song just for me... It makes me really, really happy. Thank you, Soraru-san," MafuMafu's voice wavered towards the end, and he looked close to tears while a broad grin was still plastered on his face.

Soraru smiled as well, all of his previous anxious thoughts now gone. "You're welcome, MafuMafu."

A/N: I really don't write one-shots a lot, so it took a while to actually think of something -.- Not sure how well this turned out, but I hope it was cute. So I hope you enjoyed reading whatever this was, and please let me know what you think :3
