Anxiety Attacks

MafuMafu wasn't scared of a lot of things. Sure, bugs were a given, and maybe dark places freaked him out a bit, but if there was one thing he was definitely afraid of it was being alone. It wasn't so much of a fear of being by himself, he actually very much liked his alone time. He was able to concentrate on work or relax whenever he was home by himself. Rather, it was a fear of suddenly finding himself with no one to turn to. No one to talk to, no one to laugh with, no one to share the joys and sorrows of life with. It was a rather ridiculous fear, considering he had plenty of wonderful friends. And yet everyday that fear lingered in the back of his mind. It scared him more than anything else.

MafuMafu was sure he could chock that fear up to a lot of things. Abandonment issues, separation anxiety, all sorts of disorders that included that irrational fear of his. But MafuMafu didn't think he had anything like that, simply because he didn't want people to look down on him. After all, if he had some sort of disorder he'd just be even more of a hassle to deal with. People would surely leave him then. So, MafuMafu ignored his fear for the most part and kept it to himself. If he could just feign ignorance and be with everyone like this forever, then everything would be fine right?

It was a fairly normal day, with nothing out of the ordinary happening. Work that inevitably piled up had gotten done after hours of slaving away, and MafuMafu had skipped about two meals in the process (not a personal record, but still a little worse than usual). Undoubtedly, if he told one of his caring friends about this they'd scold him and tell him to take better care of himself. While MafuMafu didn't really like that (worrying people always made him feel uncomfortable), there was usually a free meal offered at the end of the lecture... Ultimately, MafuMafu's stomach won above all else, and he scrolled through his contacts until he found someone who would be the least mad at him.

Mafu: hey Luz-kun~~ I'm hungry so let's go out to eat~~~

Luz: what's with the sudden invitation? ww

Mafu: I haven't eaten all day because I had three songs to finish and I think I'm on the brink of death >.<

Luz: geez you're really careless, you know

Mafu: yeah... sorry about that ^^"

Luz: anyway meet me at that one restaurant downtown in half an hour. I'll treat you to dinner to reward your good work~

Mafu: okay~!

MafuMafu stared down at his phone screen with a soft smile, but there was a feeling of unease in his stomach. Suddenly, he didn't feel hungry anymore. He was disgusted with himself for abusing his friends' kindness like this. He wanted to throw up. Nevertheless, MafuMafu got up and changed into some clothes that were more fit for going out in. Because, apparently, pajamas aren't deemed "acceptable" by the rest of society. Within fifteen minutes, MafuMafu was bounding out the door of his apartment and heading towards the restaurant Luz had said to meet at. MafuMafu ended up getting there about five minutes before the scheduled time, so he had to wait a bit for his friend to arrive. Once Luz got there, though, MafuMafu grinned.

"Luz-kun!" MafuMafu chirped happily, practically bouncing up and down in place.

"Hey, Mafu-kun! How have you been?" Luz greeted cheerfully.

MafuMafu said that he had been good but busy, to which Luz agreed, and the two started off into a friendly conversation. A waitress at the restaurant led them over to a table in the back, since it was very crowded right now, and she took their orders. She left for a few minutes, before returning with drinks and promising that their food would be out shortly. Luz twirled the straw around in his cup lazily, an amiable smile on his face as he looked up at MafuMafu.
