ACT 23

Katarina tossed and turned on her bed, eyes wide open and showing no hints of sleepiness. When she shifted again for the twenty-eighth time, she released a loud groan and kicked the sheets away from her body. She swung her legs to the side, perched her elbows on her knees and rubbed her face in exasperation.

Seeing that sleep seems to avoid her, she got up and paced around the room, hoping to tire herself out or bore herself to sleep. The rush she felt when she and Ashe had kissed earlier is still in her own system.

She had wanted to follow Ashe after detention, but unfortunately for her, she has to serve two hours of detention. Ashe only had to serve one hour, so when her time was up, Ashe was long gone from school. She mentally cursed and scolded herself over and over again for talking back to the guidance councilor earlier, which is the reason why she had to serve two hours of detention.

While pacing around her room, she spotted an unfamiliar velvet case on her dresser.

Confusion filled her mind. Katarina approached her dresser and grabbed the velvet case. She walked back to her bed and sat on one of sides, settling the velvet object on her lap.

She stroked the soft fabric of the cover before she opened it with a quiet click. Lifting it up fully, she unveiled an all too familiar ruby pendant. A breath escaped her lips as she caressed the beautiful accessory in her hands.

It's the necklace Ashe had bought for her at Zed and Syndra's charity event.

Green eyes traveled back to the open velvet case and noticed a black folded paper. She took the paper with one of her hands and surprisingly, something fell from inside the folded paper.

A small keychain.

She placed the paper back to the velvet case and picked up the little keychain. She held it up and inspected its appearance. The keychain is fully made out of pure silver and has two letters, 'K' and 'A', attached together in a beautiful cursive style.

She didn't have to think twice on what the two letters stand for.

Katarina placed the keychain and the necklace back to the velvet case before picking up the black paper. Her name can be clearly seen on the top of it, written elegantly in a cursive style with a silvery-white ink.

Mentally, she prepared herself for whatever the letter holds, knowing Ashe had written this before they had fought and were still in a relationship.

Finally, she mustered up the courage to unfold the letter and read it.

Katarina,

We've been together for a short span of time and I know I have not opened up to you about anything related to my past, but what I do know is that when you're reading this, it means I've finally gathered the courage to tell you every detail about it. All of it.

I want you to know that despite the fact that I withheld strong feelings for Quinn, it is no match for the feelings I have for you.

My heartbeat becomes erratic every time I'm with you. I feel myself come alive every single time I'm beside you. I can find no words to describe the feeling you give whenever you are with me. My life became worth living now that I found you.

Every time we are apart, I feel incomplete, just like what you feel and had said to me during our first night together. I hope this necklace and keychain is enough to make you feel complete, or to at least fill my place while we are apart.
