I felt the warm liquid seep from my left ribs as I took in deep breaths trying to calm down from the impact and pain of the crash. I winced, my frail body shuddering trying to move off the thick tree branch that'd punctured my left side.
I cried out in pain as I slid deeper down the branch, fidgeting slowly as I turned my head to my unconscious sister hoping she was still alive.
I could see blood slowly seeping from the temples of her head, dripping down her once flawless features that now had been cut and bruised-- my eyes feeling as if they'd been consumed by hellfire from salt filled tears that were now quickly falling like a flood and filling my sight.
I trembled, clenching my teeth so hard that a vein struck down the middle of my forehead throbbing blood through my body as my breathing began to slacken and falter, my grip so tight that my knuckles had gone pale and my complexion white as snow. My nails had dug deep into the bloodstained bark that held me up- my body starting to reject every natural thing it produced until all too suddenly my eyes failed the will to blink and my arms started to give in, shaking in a silent plea for a lesser sentence until I was willed powerless, my frail and bloodied frame slipping deeper and deeper down the wood making my dry, worn out throat cry out in agony- my head falling slack against the piles of earth' gravity and my crimson coated hands held tight to the branch directly under my punctured side...My warm and comforting consciousness drawing further and further from my being. With each breath in my chest and breath failing far too soon and with its exhale gushing yet another pool of warm blood onto my slim hands.
I could hear sirens a few miles away and with the sound of them ringing through my ears, my mind slowly started to pick up speed hoping my willless body would stay conscious. I held a tighter grip on the branch threatening my demise with every passing second. The slow-coming slaughter taunting my lifeline like a cat and a string, my heartbeats losing their rhythm and faltering with ease.
I whimpered as I felt yet another gush of blood run down my fingers, the thick substance so thick that it'd made my hands considerably heavier and so sticky that even as I tried to readjust myself it only made the wood plunge deeper into my intestine, each and every muscle in my body straining strain to keep my body weight from sliding down anymore as I wailed; my tears and body feeling a thousand times weaker than before.
God why the side of the car...
I whined as my fingers failed me once again and trembled under my weight. I screamed for help, my voice breaking and my neck straining up against itself as I lost my grip and fell deeper onto the branch, the lumber further piercing straight through my spine with a heart-crushing crack making it completely impossible to breathe and an encore of blood burst down onto the tree like a fountain; All time seeming to slow as I gasped for breaths refusing to give into death's cold finger tapping my shoulder.
With each passing second sirens gaining volume and speed, but all at once failing as I felt a warmth pulling every living thing and ounce of will out of my dying body.
I softly whispered, "Goodbye."
///
I felt myself being pulled from my lifeless cold corpse, now watching from higher above, stopping just below the clouds but not so high that the scene below me was hard to see. I was hot. Almost as if my skin and organs we on fire but it was...comforting.
I watched the ambulance and my parents' car screech to a sharp halt beside my sister's. Just as all too suddenly before I could even gather my thoughts and think of what was happening I was screaming, for some reason immeasurably frightened but the sound of my helpless cries muffled before they even fully emerged. I felt tears run wild down my cheeks seeing my lifeless body now dangling on the branch and coated in my growingly cold blood.
My mother let a scream slip from her body as she clawed back at my dad who was trying to hold her close to him, her small frame slipping on the ice below her feet and running to our bodies.
I sobbed unable to move or process as I watched the scene unfold before me & I fell from the sky- quickly hitting the ground with a silent thud. I looked down then back up at the preoccupied bodies before me, only then realizing that I wasn't visible; my hands covered with blood and the vile liquid still streaming from my side, yet not staining the road below me nor drawing attention from anyone.
I watched my dad hold back my mother who was pain-strikingly determined to reach the death-ridden car holding the both of her children, his face pained and tears I was sure he'd never let fall in front of my mother forming in his dark brown eyes as she pushed and pulled at him.
The ambulance ran to the dirty white punch buggy and cut open the driver seat door as she fought, managing to maneuver my sister from the car, laying her on a small cot and quickly checking her pulse, thankfully seeing she was alive and loading her into the van.
My body was growing paler as I sobbed and cried heavier and heavier, petrified of myself and the event all too quickly unfolding before my blurring and tear flooded eyes.
There was a few older men trying to pry the door open on my side of the car but there was one younger one whose face I couldn't see clearly. I wiped my face and walked closer to him, now on my feet. He told the rest of the men some unknown codes and numbers. All the alike exchanging looks of confusion before retreating back to back to the van, all shooting gazes and looks of concern back over their shoulders. The man who'd ordered them to do so looked around, almost as if he was making sure no one was watching.
He stepped closer to my body and whispered in my ear.
"You'll be fine."
I crawled back as he did, confusion ruling over my fear. He grabbed the branch in my side and... and just broke it. He took a branch about 3 feet thick covered in my blood and broke it like a pencil. With that, picking up my blood-covered body and carrying me to the van.
I tried to see his face, furiously wiping at my eyes as he walked from the car trying to clear my vision but all in all, resulting in only hearing my mothers screams, with seeing half a branch in her sons' side as I was once again carried off beyond her protection.
Then...it all went black.
Now, You're all caught up.
