"Blood, Energy, and Tears"

Jinx POV

I took a shaky breath in letting my wings hang down as I brushed past Ridge, trying to hold down whatever self-control I could muster to myself as I lightly stepped into the room that would scar me far worst then the remains of the branch in my side.

Ridge looked down at his feet, running his hands through his hair; noticeably tugging at the ends of the loose strands, "I should go get Kys."

I nodded, my body's glow not fading but rather comforting me; keeping my wits together. I wanted to fall off the face of the earth. I'd seen too much and I knew by now there was no forgetting these hells...

Danielle's small body was sprawled across the floor in the middle of the room — her dark crimson blood slowly seeping from her once brown cheeks, thighs, hands, and wrists. Her once pure and pretty white dress now covered in her own blood — The ripped remains of the white material scattered amongst the flooring and littering my eyes.

I felt my nose being tickled by the salty wet tears from my eyes as I tread closer to her body knowing my shirt was soon to be wet from my silent cries. I picked up her lifeless body, biting my bottom lip to keep myself from screaming in total guilt and agony; brushing her hair back and trying to clean up some of the thick blood before her sister came to see one of the tragedies that surely would haunt her memories forever.

I sobbed silently to myself as I rocked her still ridden body back and forth in my arms whispering comforting words in her paling ear before actually looking around the room; only then realizing she wasn't the only thing covered in blood.

There were four adult-sized and full-fledged Awoken surrounding us; all of the creatures undoubtedly dead and their arms covered in their own blood. I leaned down to one holding Dani tightly in my arms, looking closer to their charred features. All of their blurry white eyes had been violently pulled out the sockets as blood still ran down their faces — eyes of each held tightly in their hands covered in blood; Their faces contorted into a pain-filled trance that stuck as their resting presence making it clear they were long gone and painfully so.

I quickly looked at the two — exchanging glances for a moment, back and forth now confused about who killed who and why both still ended up dead.

///

I'd cleaned Dani up some, moved her body to the small bed nearby, and put spare sheets over the Awoken's bodies, hoping to spare some of Kys shock as she saw the state of her sister.

As I covered the last corpse I felt a subtle buzz run down my spine and during the time I registered the feeling I heard Kys and Ridge port outside the door with a small clash of their feet hitting the flooring.

I quickly stood and tried to wipe the small tears that still fell from my tired eyes, my skin now red and pale.

'I should've taken his advice."

I whispered a come in and as soon as I heard the door creak open, it felt as if a thousand weights had been dropped on my wings making my backache in pain, guilt getting the best of me.
