the sweet nothings you whispered
as the world went on by
we were in a hotel room
high above the city
beyond the noises and the voices
we fell asleep in each others arms
snuggled up close i felt so warm
"i love you" i said
but you were already sleeping
seven months later i was in tears
behind a dumpster crying my heart out
i was foolish
stupid to think that you'd ever love someone like me
when there were beauties out just beyond your reach
we were over long before we started.
