Jordan's POV

"Jordsy, come play with me!" Kenzie begged after 'accidentally' hitting me with the tennis ball.

"Kenzie I really need to practice with my own team, I don't have time to help you out." I said, trying to get out of whatever Kenzie had planned. "Plus, if you can hit me with a tennis ball purposely, I think you're fine."

"But I just wanted to talk.." there it was, the grade A puppy face she used when she wanted to get her way. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Seriously?" I questioned her.

"Yeah, seriously. Now come one, before someone gets that court!" she shouted, taking a running start to the court. I looked over at Chris, who was playing with Will and Evan.

"Just try to get rid of her." Chris asked. I laughed and made my way over to Kenzie's court.

"We've got things to talk about, Jordsy." her tone was serious. Well, except for the Jordsy part. Nothing could ever be serious about that nickname.

"What could we possibly ever have to talk about?" I asked.

"Ericka, that's what." her expression was serious. Oh god, what would she be saying.

"What about her?"

"You've been friends with her for like, a friggin week. How is it even possible for that to happen? It only happens in movies!" she said, her voice beginning to raise.

"What can I say? Ericka's nice. She's caring, and who the hell cares if she's shy? I'm just really glad I met her." I saw Kenzie's face grow red as I sang her praises. She began walking towards me.

"I've been trying to get closer to you for the past four months. How the hell does Ericka win you over within a fucking week?" She screamed at me. I chuckled.

"Because you're exactly the kind of person I don't get along with, and I never will." I said. "I don't know how you and Ericka are even friends, okay? I'm still trying to figure it out."

"Well you know what? She's fucked up okay! She didn't tell you that, huh?" She informed me. Fucked up?

"I think you're the one who's fucked up Kenzie. If you're trying to hold Ericka's problems against her." I was defending Ericka, because she needed to be. Kenzie didn't have the right to hurt Ericka because of whatever was wrong with her. It was probably something stupid, like she can't ride a bike. I don't know. I began to walk away from Kenzie when she said something from behind me.

"Just know that if you like her, her problem is going to prevent her from liking you back."

I slowly turned around, my body growing hot. It would keep her from... liking me? Nonsense.

"She already likes me, Kenzie." I was trying to get around her lies, even if it caused me to lie to her. Ericka would understand this lie if she heard about it, it's only to stop Kenzie.

"No, she likes you as a friend. She can't love, Jordan. And she never will." she said, waking away from me instead of me waking away from her. I walked back over to Chris, who had just finished another set with Will and Evan.

"What did she say? I could hear screaming." Chris asked me. I began to think of a stupid excuse.

"She... She was frustrated because she couldn't play properly." I fibbed. The three of then laughed, while my mind was still stuck on this problem of Ericka's. It couldn't be serious, could it? So what if she has a few social problems. I don't like her that way, I don't.

But that feeling in my chest is telling me I'm wrong. I in fact do like Ericka, and the fact that she may not ever like me back is a heartbreaking feeling that I don't want to ever feel. Ericka was worth it, I would help her.

well, Kenzie is back! you probably don't want her back but lol whatever she's kinda important. so I'm trying to hint Ericka's problem. it's not a huge one, but it affects her and Jordan's relationship and her communication ahaha. thanks for reading! Sorry the chapter was short
