Ericka's POV
I decided to go to Jordan's game. I was considering not going, but I honestly had nothing better to do and I saw this as an attempt to help my social status. I brought Lorraine with me because I probably wouldn't know anyone at the game, I was only friends with Jordan.
"I swear, if Kenzie's here I'll give her a piece of my mind..." Lorraine threatened, crossing her arms. I chuckled, praying that Kenzie wasn't here for her own safety. Lorraine did what she says she'll do. At this point, nothing would keep her from ripping out Kenzie's hair.
"Look, there's Jordan." I said, pointing out Jordan. He was with his friends, talking. I glanced over at Lorraine, who was smiling.
"He's handsome, Ericka." she admitted. I laughed, holding my stomach. "You should have given me that detail!"
"What? I don't acknowledge looks." I said. Lorraine rolled her eyes, and we walked over to Jordan. He smiled at me.
"Hey." he greeted me.
"Hey there." I replied. I froze for a moment, then gestured over to Lorraine.
"Oh, I brought my friend Lorraine. She goes to Cityside." I told him. Jordan and Lorraine exchanged hello's, and he continued to talk to me.
"So today you'll get to watch my friend and I play." he pointed over to a guy a bit shorter than him, with more muscle than himself.
"To be honest I have no clue about tennis." I informed him. Jordan smiled at me, and began to explain the basics to me. By the end of the conversation, I had an idea. Jordan had to go and talk to his coach, so Lorraine and I sat down in the bleachers.
"Is he any good?" she asked me.
"I have no idea. The boys team is ten times better than the girls team, though. And Ridge is known for sports."
The game started a few moments after. Jordan and his friend got onto the court. Jordan served the ball, and it went back and forth until the other team made a mistake, allowing for Ridge to take the lead 15-0. The crowd cheered, forcing me to grab Lorraine's forearm. it was going to take time before I got used to this giant crowd.
The game continued with a serve from Jordan. The ball rallied back and forth, neither team wanted to screw up. After what felt like an eternity, Jordan's friend messed up and hit the ball into the net. The opponents bleachers started to scream at the top of their lungs, the score was now tied.
The other team served this time, the ball went right in Jordan's direction. He hit it back, catching them off guard and missing the ball completely. The score was now 30-15. I glanced over at Lorraine, who was in awe.
"So your friend is really good." she said.
"He also plays guitar like a God." I admitted, giggling. Lorraine lightly slapped my arm, and we both laughed.
The game continued, Ridge easily won the match, leaving the other team in the dust. After the victory, it wasn't like how I expected it. The people watching didn't pour into the court like how they did in the movies. Everyone just left. Lorraine and I stayed behind, and we met up with Jordan and his friend.
"How'd I do?" Jordan asked us. Before I could congratulate him, Lorraine stepped in.
"You're amazing! You should really go over to Cityside and teach our team how to play." she told him.
"Thanks. What's your name again?"
"Lorraine."
"I hope I see you at more games with Ericka, Lorraine." I'm pretty sure Lorraine blushed at this. Not that she was the type to fall in love with someone at the first meeting. She was just flattered.
"Oh, I never told you my friends name." Jordan gestured over to the shorter guy.
"I'm Chris." he introduced. Lorraine and I both greeted Chris in unison. Jordan and Chris both laughed.
Eventually, Lorraine's mother picked her up, and Chris left. It was literally just Jordan and I alone on the swing set next to the court.
Jordan's POV
"So did you transfer here from Cityside?" I asked Ericka, as we both swung.
"Nah, I've been living in Ridge since I was five." she said. "I'm just harder to notice. I'm like the apple at the top of the tree. No one notices me because I'm in the places they can't reach. So they go for the apples at the bottom of the tree."
"Did you just relate your social life to an apple tree?" I chuckled. Ericka smiled at me.
"I did." she replied, chuckling. "You know what we should do?"
"What?"
"Swing as high as we can, then jump off!" she suggested. I laughed, and agreed to her idea. We began to swing, up until the point where the chains were yanking.
"In the count of three?" I asked her. She nodded.
"One!" she shouted.
"Two!" I shouted back.
"Three!" we said together, leaping from the swings. We both landed on our feet, and began to tumble down the hill. Once at the bottom, we were finally still, laughing harder than ever. I rolled over and ended up on top of Ericka, who was still laughing hard. I chimed in with her laughter which finally faded after a few more minutes. I looked into her eyes, which were a very bright, yet vibrant hazel. I felt the butterflies in my stomach. She was... Beautiful.
"Jordan?" she said from beneath me. I snapped back from the trance her eyes put me in and sat to her left.
"Don't you have a ride home?" I asked her.
"My parents, but I think they're working late." she told me.
"Then let me give you a ride." I offered. Ericka immediately began to shake her head.
"I can wait for them, don't worry."
"No, you can't. There's no one else here, you'll get hurt." I was being stubborn. Ericka finally gave in, and I led her over to my car, and we got in.
"You only have a permit, though. What if the police catch us and charge you?" she worried.
"If its you I'm getting caught with, then it's worth it." I said simply, beginning to drive. "Just lead me there."
Ericka gave me the directions, and within ten minutes we were outside her house.
"Thanks, Jordan." she said, removing her seat belt. "I'll see you on Monday."
I watched Ericka enter her house and wave goodbye before I left. I was home in ten more minutes. My mom was in the kitchen, obviously waiting for me.
"Your game ended two hours ago, what the hell were you doing?" she demanded. This happened all the time. No one cared if I was late except for her.
"I was with a few friends. I'm sorry, I should have called." I apologized. My mom hugged me, telling me to call if I'm going to be out late. I went upstairs, and quickly fell asleep.
