Ericka's POV October 31st

The past week has consisted of me skipping school twice, and practicing Jordan and I's guitar piece like there was no tomorrow. I didn't want to let him down by messing up, especially since he wasn't talking to me anymore. As the last bell of the day rang, I walked out of the classroom and went down the hall towards my locker. It's been three weeks since the last time I saw Jordan standing outside of my locker, and I really missed him being there to give me a hug after a rough day. I sighed as I shut my locker and headed towards my bus. At the last second, I decided to walk home instead of taking the bus. I usually only walked for the first week of school, but I really wasn't in the mood to take the bus today.

At least today was Halloween. Lorraine and I have been planning our costumes since May. We decided to be Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, and I was dressed as Barnacle Boy. Ridge High School was obsessed with Halloween, the student council held a costume contest every year. Everyone went all out on their costumes which was very entertaining. Last year, a group of guys dressed up as N'Sync and performed during my lunch period.

Once I arrived home, I saw my Mom's car parked in the driveway. She didn't like me walking home alone, but I did it anyways. Upon entering my house, my Mom smiled, and got up to her feet from her chair.

"Ready to go?" she asked me. I nodded, and we left the house. Lorraine and I also planned to trick or treat in Cityside this year, even though I was obliged to trick or treating in Ridge instead. However, she insisted we stayed in Cityside, and we could trick or treat in Ridge next year. I had no other choice but to agree, because Lorraine was quite stubborn and very, very persistent.

"How was school?" Mom finally asked me half way through the car ride. She knew I didn't like being asked about school, but I brushed that off. She just wants to talk to me, that's all.

"Good." I stated. "Nothing too important, just a bunch of teens dressed up."

"Sounds fun." she said. "We had a bunch of families come in the restaurant today. We were also giving out candy."

"So you gus had a busy lunch?" I asked her. She nodded, and that's where our conversation ended. We pulled up Lorraine's driveway only minutes later, so I said goodbye and exited the car. Lorraine peaked out her window, then ran downstairs to get the door. She was already fully dressed as Mermaid Man. Her school didn't allow for kids to dress up, so she had to dress up right after getting home. On the other hand, I wore my costume throughout the day and didn't have to change.

"To the boatmobile!" she shouted, walking inside and gesturing for me to follow. "Lets watch a few more episodes of Spongebob Sqaurepants, so we'll be on point tonight." she turned on the T.V. and went to her recordings, putting on an episode that contained Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy in it.

"We're still gonna go through the McDonalds drive through and ask for a krabby patty, right?" I asked her. That was what I was most looking forward to tonight.

"Of course, silly! It's crucial." she replied. Two hours later, we headed out onto the streets. But not before her mother took a load of pictures. I did my best to stay in place as her mom continuously pressed the button to take the picture.

"Okay mom, that's enough." Lorraine said in the nicest way she could. Her mom finally stopped, and let us go. It was six, and mostly children were out with their parents. But Lorraine and I had decided to go early to get the most candy.

Jordan's POV

"This pizza isn't half bad." I said after taking the first bite out of the pizza. Kenzie giggled, already halfway done with her slice. I would have been done with mine already, but James called and asked if I knew where something was.

"I told you. This is the best pizza place in town!" she kept giggling and eating, and I really wasn't interested in most of the things she was talking about. The only thing we bonded over in our past two pizza dates was tennis. Otherwise, she would go on and on about shopping and I would just agree and nod.

I'm realizing that Kenzie isn't nearly as interesting as Ericka. Not that Kenzie is boring, she just doesn't talk about anything that I would relate to. Everything out of her mouth is either girly or tennis, and rarely is the conversation about tennis.

Ericka on the other hand, she understands me. She can talk about guitar for hours, even play a piece. She'll watch an action movie and not once cringe at the large amount of fake blood on the screen. And most importantly, she's herself. She's not changing her personality to impress me. She doesn't bring herself down to the level of the girls chasing me. Instead, she raises the bar and makes me chase after her. Jesus Christ, I really want to talk to Ericka right now.

"Jordsy?" Kenzie said after I hadn't spoken for a while. I snapped out of my thoughts and realized that it was Kenzie sitting in front of me.

"Yeah, what did you say?" I asked her. Kenzie gladly returned to the talking about how her favorite store ran out of her favorite lip gloss. I kept nodding as she complained, but I really, really did not care about her lip gloss ordeals. This conversation was so one sided. Half an hour later, Kenzie's mom picked her up. She gave me a very tight hug goodbye, and I began to drive home. There was loads of trick or treaters on the sidewalks. I stopped dressing up for Halloween a few years ago, but I saw Ericka's costume. She was Barnacle Boy from Spongebob Squarepants, and I could only assume that Lorraine was the other half of the superhero duo.

Alright, I've been neglecting this story for a while but I promise I'm going to try my hardest to push out loads of chapters! The story is almost over, too :D Thanks for reading!
