(A/N: Thank you guys so much for 1k reads! This is the first time one of my books were this successful! Again, thanks so much and enjoy the chapter! :D )
I quickly look over my shoulder and sigh with relief. A man was talking to his wife, who was tenderly cradling her baby. I smile at the two and go back to my lunch, only to see a particular green-haired Irishmen sitting in front of me. I jump and cover my mouth from screaming and choking. I swallow my food, "Jack?!"
He wasn't laughing, or even smiling at my reaction. There was almost no emotion on his face, only concern and worry flickering in his eyes. "Are you okay?"
I bit the inside of my lip, "yeah.... No... I-" while looking for the right words to say, I sigh "I'm not sure yet." I say softly as I look outside the window, Mark waiting outside and looking through the window. He looked sad, like a lost puppy in the middle of a busy street. Sighing, I turn back to Jack who was eating some of my salad. "Hey!" I yelled, grabbing my salad back.
"I'm hungry!" He yelled back, only much louder and grabbing attention. I sigh and push the plate back to him, who only looked at it then back at me. "You aren't going to eat it? But you eat everything."
I shook my head, looking back out the window, "I'm not really hungry, at least not today."
He grabbed my hands as well as my attention. "What's wrong? Where's the crazy, funny, bubbly, wonderful Echo that I know?" He asked, his blue eyes staring into mine. I've never looked properly into his eyes, never noticed how beautiful they are, or how much they can see into your soul. Trying to look away would be impossible at this point, they just suck you in and make you lost.
"I- uh. Nothing... I don't want to complain." I manage to say, looking away from his eyes. I stand up, "I don't mean to push you away, but it's just Mark that's got me down."
He quickly stands up after me, "I can talk to him, I can!" He pushes, eager to help.
"It's okay, I'll do it." I walk out the door, and up to Mark.
"Sam, I'm so sorry I sounded like a jerk. I didn't mean it to come out that way. It's hard coping with this new inf–" he starts yammering before I cut him off.
"Mark, it's okay. Really, it's fine. I mean it, and to answer your question, it's a lot like Deadpool. There's another voice in my head, only one. It can be fun but there's a lot of times where you have to be mature and serious."
"So... Are we good?" He asks, arms half outstretched.
I embrace him, and it takes only a moment to hug back, "Yeah, we're good." We stay there for a while, and as I look out the corner my eye I see Jack smiling warmly, proud of himself. Soon he can't stand waiting any longer and runs outside and joins us in a group hug.

"We got her back!" Jack called as we walked in, arm-in-arm. Bob, Ken and Wade stand up with concern.
"So?" Bob asks, looking from Mark to Jack to me.
"We're good," I say smiling, then let go of the two. "Mark, can I talk to you? Upstairs?" He nods and follows me up the stairs, and we sit on the ground.
"What's up?" He asked, looking at me.
"Do you know who was in my room last night? Do you know who spoke to me last night?" I ask, unable to find any other way to word it better.
"Yeah, you and Jack had a sleepover in your room. You didn't invite anyone and talked all night." He answered, well... More or less joked.
"No, but when we were asleep." I clarified.
"Ohh, yeah. That was me. I went over because I felt so bad about how I treated you. I'm still sorry I was acting like a jackass to you."
I didn't say anything, just embraced him for the second time today. Mark might not have been my friend since we were little, but he will always be someone I can trust and turn to with my secret.
"So what now?" He asks after a few moments of silence.
"I leave in a couple of days..." I stated, looking at his chocolate brown eyes. The once diminished warmth and charisma had returned.
"Oh," was all he said.
Mark's P.O.V
She's leaving?! She can't leave! Not once we've finally fixed our friendship! Looking into her eyes, the light in her eyes that was once gone was back, and I could tell she thought the same. I start thinking back to what I said last night, how fluently it came. I was amazed at how sincere it felt, and how every bit was true. Then I think about the other thing I did. I had kissed her, not on the lips or cheek, but on her temple. It took every nerve to do it, and I'm glad I did. She deserved an apology, she saved my ass. I have to make it up to her.I snap out of my thoughts, Sam staring weirdly at me. "What?"
She laughed, god I'm sure everyone has missed that laugh. "You were staring into space like a loooossseeerrrr." She said, using my famous catch-phrase.
I chuckled, "Why don't we go out somewhere?"
She blushed a little, "the two of us? Like... Like a date?"
"No no! I mean all of us... Unless you want to go on a date.." I say nudging her with my shoulder at the last part.
"Sure!"
"All of us or the two of us?" I asked confused.
"Both!" She chirped, then stood up. "By the way, you've got the balls to come into my room at night. Sometimes I sleepwalk." She said before walking out of the room.
"Weirdo." I muttered before standing up.
"Heard that!" She called back. I rolled my eyes and stood up, walking out the door behind her.
