* Killian's POV *

"Where the hell have you been?" Ruby asked me rudely after I'd crawled back in my own window and gone down to get something to eat. "You know Regina hates when you don't socialize or whatever."

"Like you really wanted me here?" I scoffed. "I'm here now so why don't you just relax before you wrinkle that pretty face, because we all know it's all you have."

"God, you're such an ass," she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Just go away. I'm not in the mood to deal with you."

"And I wonder why that is," I smirked, cocking my eyebrow when she glared at me. "Could it possibly be because the new girl made you look like an idiot at your own party?"

"Shut up," she snapped. "That bitch is not getting away with that. I took her in, got her in with all the right people, and then she stabs me in the back."

"All she did was dress to her standards instead of yours," I defended Emma, feeling the need to protect her. "Why is that such a big deal?"

"Why are you defending her?" She questioned, studying me carefully. "Oh my god, do you like her?!"

"I d-don't know what you're t-talking about," I said, cursing my own stutter. "I-I just enjoy w-watching someone get to you."

"No, you're hiding something," she accused me, narrowing her eyes as she stepped closer to get in my face and try to seem intimidating though she just looked like a toddler having a tantrum to me. "And believe me, I will find out what it is and use it to obliterate you."

"I'm already as low as I can get in this town," I reminded her, completely unconcerned. "What could you possibly do to me?"

*Emma's POV *

"I'll be outside," I told Ingrid as I went out to the backyard in my bikini top and shorts, deciding to try to enjoy the last bit of summer sun on that Sunday. I put my headphones in, closing my eyes and just relaxing as the sun warmed my skin. My phone vibrated and I rolled over to my stomach to check it, smiling to myself at who had texted me.

Killian: Good morning, beautiful. Sleep well?

Emma: Hey I'm surprised you're awake this early

K: never went to sleep, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you

E: idiot. What are you doing now then?

K: just out for a walk, you?

"Hey," I heard someone snap at me before I could answer, taking out one of my headphones and turning over to see Ruby. "You and I need to talk. Now."

"Oh god," I grumbled to myself, standing up and crossing my arms over my chest. "What can I help you with? You're clearly pissed at me, so why are you here?"

"Because I want to know what happened last night," she demanded, mirroring my posture. "I've been nothing but nice to you, got you in with all the right people without expecting a thing in return. All I wanted was to keep the style of my party cohesive, why was that so hard?"

"Look, I really didn't mean to piss you off," I sighed, letting my arms fall. "I just wanted to dress like myself. I'm not as confident in myself as you are, I can't just put myself out there."

"It's not like you're stripping for everyone," she rolled her eyes at me and I had to fight to keep calm. "They're just clothes. And besides, you're dreadfully behind getting a date for homecoming. Most of us make plans during summer, so if you're not careful you're going to end up either alone or going with my lame foster brother."
