* Emma's POV *

We walked into the building and as soon as one set of eyes landed on us, they all did. Everyone stopped dancing to whisper to each other, watching us as we found a table to leave my purse before going to the middle of the dancefloor. We ignored them, focusing on each other as he spun me before bringing me into his arms. I bit my lips as I giggled at him, his forehead resting on mine as we started to sway to the slow song.

"What are you doing?" Ruby snapped when she came storming up to us just as that song ended and we were about to kiss. "If you needed a date that badly, why didn't you just go with one of the five guys who asked you?"

"Because I was already going with my boyfriend," I informed her, seeing her face scrunch even more with disgust. "What's the big deal?"

"What's the big deal?" She repeated in disbelief, he tone so condescending I could hardly listen. "The big deal is he's way below your social class! I brought you into the elite of this school and he's way past the bottom. He's not even in the same league as us!"

"Stop it," I snapped at her, letting go of Killian to turn and face her. "You don't even know what you're talking about. We came here to have a nice time together with our friends, and if you were really my friend you'd be happy that I'm happy. So either be a friend, or leave us alone."

"I can't just let this go, Emma," she insisted in the superior tone she always got. "He's a teenage dirtbag, a waste of oxygen, a drain on society. He's not-"

She was cut off when my fist collided with her face and her date had to catch her, her nose already starting to slowly drip blood. Killian quickly grabbed me when I went after her again, holding me back against him and pinning my wrists to my chest so I couldn't move. She looked at me with utter shock and offense, the rest of the room frozen until she rushed from the room holding her nose with her date on her heels.

"Come on, love," Killian said softly as he led me towards the family bathroom. He turned on the cool water and moved my hand under it, making me wince at first as he wiped both Ruby's and my blood from my knuckles before lifting them to his lips. "That feel better at all?"

"Much," I said quietly, watching him and his concern for my pain. "I'm sorry, I just couldn't listen to her talk about you like that. It makes me so angry I can't see straight."

"Don't be sorry," he shook his head, bringing me closer with his hands on the small of my back just above my butt and mine on his chest. "You defending me like that just makes you even more frustratingly perfect."

"Sure it does," I laughed lightly, sliding my arms around his neck to pull myself closer and his hands moved further down as I kissed him softly. He took the opportunity to grab me, smirking at my small sound of surprise when he squeezed gently. "Handsy today, aren't you?"

"I missed you," he smirked a bit, but I could see the nervous glint in his eyes. "But I-I can stop if you want. I d-don't want to m-make you uncomfortable."

"Not at all, I like it," I smiled, stretching up on my toes to kiss him again and moaning softly against his lips when he started to massage my bottom gently as his hands cupped it perfectly through my dress. "Mmm... come dance with me?"

He smirked a bit, kissing me once more before we went back. I'd never been big on dancing but with Killian I loved it, always being pressed to him in some way as we moved together to the rhythm of the music. It honestly just made me want him in a way I'd never felt for anyone but him, and never this intensely. Ruby didn't show up for the rest of the night and everyone else slowly relaxed, allowing themselves to talk to us more and more as time went on.
