*Killian's POV *

Emma had caught a cold, no doubt from being out so long in that costume the other night, so she was going to continue her school online like she had been. She tried to argue that I should go to school, but there was no way I was leaving her alone when she felt like that. She honestly looked like a mess but I didn't care, she was so horribly adorable. I was just letting her sleep on top of me as I sat against the wall, tiny snores escaping her as her head rested on my chest.

"Killian?" She mumbled as she started to stir, cuddling closer when I tightened my arms around her. "Mmm you're comfy."

"Good to hear," I chuckled, rubbing her back gently and brushing a kiss to her hair. "How are you feeling?"

"Like crap on toast," she grumbled, still refusing to open her eyes. "But I'm glad you stayed with me."

"Well I wasn't about to leave you stranded," I reminded her, rubbing her back again when she started coughing violently. "But I think its time I get you something for that."

"I'm fine," she tried to argue, now wheezing. "Just stay here."

"You're miserable," I sighed, gently getting up despite her protests. "Just rest and I'll be back in just a few minutes."

"Fine," she pouted and I bent to kiss her lips lightly before pulling on my jacket. "Just don't be too long then. You wanted to stay, so you should."

I simply smirked a bit and left, just walking the two blocks to the pharmacy. I was looking through the cold and flu aisle when I heard Emma's name, looking into the next aisle to see a group of guys from the football team. I rolled my eyes, trying my best to ignore the way they talked about her but it made my blood boil. I grabbed a few things and went around the corner, making the entire group go silent.

"Oh don't stop on my account," I said, letting my annoyance be known. "I'm just picking up some things for my girlfriend, go ahead."

"Oh, uhm, we were just, uhm," one of them started but couldn't seem to find any actual words.

"I know exactly what you were doing," I all but growled as I stepped closer and he started to back up. "Yes, Emma's back in town, but she's still my girlfriend. Talk about her like that again, and you and the cement are going to become intimately familiar with each other."

He nodded and I pushed him harshly into the shelf to get past him to go to the counter. I paid for everything and grabbed her a grilled cheese from the diner, checking in with my boss before going upstairs. Emma was fast asleep again so I was as quiet as I could be, sitting on the edge of the bed to check her temperature and finding her forehead burning.

"Emma, sweetheart, wake up," I said gently, stroking her hair as her eyes slowly came open. "I brought you some medicine and something to eat if you can."

"Kay," she croaked out, struggling to sit up until I helped her and then leaning into my embrace. She rested her head on my chest, her eyes falling closed again quickly. "Thank you, babe. I know I'm a baby when I'm sick, it doesn't happen a lot."

"I'll be here," I promised, kissing her forehead and grabbing the bags. I got a dose of the medicine out and handed it to her with a bottle of juice. "Take this and just try to eat a little bit, then you can go back to sleep."

"Kay," she said again, making a face when she took the medicine and tearing off a bit of her sandwich. I just held her as she forced herself to eat, trying to make her feel better the best I could until she finished. "Do you mind laying with me for a while?"

"Come here, Swan," I half smiled as I lay down and she settled happily on my chest with my arms around her. Her eyes fell closed once more and I pulled the comforter up to tuck around her, hoping her fever would break soon. She started snoring again in minutes and I laughed a bit to myself, still absolutely enamored with her despite the mess she had become.

*Emma's POV*

Killian took absurdly good care of me for two days before I made him go back to school. I'd decided to just finish the semester online, pretty much just hiding in that tiny room most of the time with my laptop. It was just easier, and I was honestly too lazy to deal with anything else right now.

I was still searching for my parents, and I'd tracked them to this town just like I'd thought. Apparently he worked at the sheriff's station and she worked at the elementary school. They sounded so cliché it made me almost hate them. I finally decided to confront them, getting up to get dressed when Killian burst through the door.

"He's awake!" He said gasping for air, seeming to have run here from school. "He's awake, we have to go!"

"Babe, slow down," I said as he dragged me down the stairs. "Who's awake? Where are we going?"

"You know how I told you about the accident a few years ago," he started, still breathless but calmer now as I twined my fingers through his. "And how my brother has been in a coma since. Well the hospital called. Liam's awake."

"Well why didn't you say so before!" I said with a bit of teasing in my voice, tugging him down the street faster. "Let's go!"

Again, a tad short, but I wanted to give you an update before the premier tomorrow. Hope you enjoy it!

Also, for those of you who were concerned about me... earlier this month, I had my own "first time" experience.... and now it looks like this writer is going to be a momma...

Later, loves...
