*Emma's POV*
About two weeks later I was called back down to the office after school. I told Killian I'd meet him at home, giving him a light kiss before he left. I rushed down there, hoping they were going to tell me one way or another where I was going.
"Miss Swan," Miss Jacobs greeted me cheerfully when I came in totally breathless. "I'm glad to see you got my note. Would you like to sit down?"
"Thanks," I nodded, sitting down but unable to sit back due to my anxiety. "So, have you heard anything?"
"I have," she smiled triumphantly, opening a drawer and handing me another packet. This time with a Harvard postmark. "Congratulations. Your entrance interview is next week."
"Oh my god," I said in shocked disbelief as tears came to my eyes. "Thank you. Thank you so much, this means literally everything to me, I can't even tell you."
"That's my job," she said a bit awkwardly, clearly taken off guard by how emotional I was about it. "Just fill all that out and take it with you next week. Oh, and if you could give this packet to Ruby? You two are friends, right?"
"It's fine," I nodded and took the familiar Yale envelope with Ruby's name on it. "It's the least I can do after what you've done for me." I left and went directly to Ruby's house, her snide face greeting me when she opened the door. "Here. Miss Jacobs asked me to give this to you."
"What is it?" she snapped and snatched it from me, her eyes widening when they registered what it was before returning to me. "What did you do?"
"Look," I started with a sigh, holding my books over my chest. "When we talked a couple weeks ago, I had literally just talked to her about switching to Harvard so I could stay closer to Storybrooke. I didn't do it for you, but I'm really glad it gave you your chance back."
"Wait," she stopped me from walking away and her voice was softer than I'd ever heard it so I turned back. "Thank you. Even if you didn't do it for me, it still means a lot to me that you gave this back to me."
"You earned it," I half smiled, seeing actual tears in her eyes. "Maybe now we can start over and have a chance at being real friends."
"I'd really like that," she almost sobbed, surging forward and taking me completely off guard when she hugged me so tight I could barely breathe. "Thank you so so much."
"Of course," I forced out, sighing with relief when she let me go. "Why don't you come over tomorrow night? I'm having Anna and Elsa over for a girls night, I'm sure they'd love for you to join us."
"Alright," she smiled a bit, wiping her eyes. "My car is having issues, do you think you could pick me up?"
"I can ask Killian to fix it if you want," I offered, knowing there would be some serious convincing involved with him. "You'll need it to get to Yale in the fall."
"You've always been way too nice to me," she sighed, a horribly guilty look on her face. "I'll see you tomorrow."
We said our goodbyes and I headed home, feeling better about my future than I had in a long time. Killian was leaning into the popped hood of his brother's car so I quickly went behind him and slid my arms around his middle.
"Is that my Swan?" he asked and I could practically hear the smirk in his voice, his hands stopping on his work.
"Could be," I teased him, leaning over so he could see me over his shoulder despite the height difference. "Why? Do a lot of girls just come grope you from behind?"
"Not that I'm aware of," he chuckled, turning to wrap his arms around me in return. "You're rather cheerful. I take it your meeting went well?"
"It did actually," I smiled, slipping my hands into his back pockets and stepping flush to him. "I'm going to Harvard, Ruby got her spot back, and she's joining girls night. Though, I kind of volunteered you to fix her car..."
"If it keeps that smile on your face, anything," he said, cupping my cheek as he bent to kiss me. I stood up on my toes to hold him in that kiss a bit longer, pulling a groan from his throat when I pressed myself closer and squeezed his backside. "Mmm I do love when you're excitable."
"Come inside with me," I whispered, looking up into those mesmerizing blue eyes longingly. "Work on the car tomorrow."
"Just give me half an hour," he insisted, always stubborn when he was working. "Then I promise I'll be in."
"Mhmm," I eyed him skeptically. "Sure you will. If you're not in for dinner I'm coming back out after you."
He just smirked as I pecked his lips and went inside and down to our room. I changed and pulled my hair up, plopping down on our bed heavily. I scrubbed my hands over my face and shook my head, grabbing my Harvard packet to get started. I wished I was better at getting him to stop working, but today had been a day of so many answered prayers, I couldn't really ask for much more.
It's a tad short, I know, but I have my idea for the next chapter and if I let it keep going it's going to take forever to get you an update. Anyway, please don't forget to comment and vote so I know what kind of stuff to keep doing! Later, loves!
