(A/N Fred didn't die, no you're delusional! I'm so sorry if you're not Japanese, I googled your name and it said it was Japanese and there were a bunch of famous people with similar names. If you're not the person who requested this and aren't Japanese, just go with it. ;-))
Muggle life was hard, Fred was discovering quickly. Buying groceries and paying bills and keeping the sink fixed and keeping his magic discrete around muggles. All of it seemed too much to bear. He couldn't conjure up money to pay for things, and was quickly discovering his Wizarding job didn't supply enough money for him to pay for his shop and his home life. muggle money was difficult to use, and he got odd looks from people for his British accent and the slang he slipped up with. And the worst part of it all was, what the hell was the penny for? For the life of him, he couldn't figure it out. What was the point of having such a small value of coin? It cost more money to make a penny than it was worth, a fact he learned from the only English channel on the television, which happened to be a documentary channel. He was also quickly catching up with muggle politics, and found that he didn't understand their government system either!
Michiko had no such problem. As a muggle-born, second generation Japanese woman, she knew plenty well about the muggle world. The Wizarding world, on the other hand, was torture. They didn't seem to have any attempt at a government system and she still hadn't found out the rules that governed magic! She knew she couldn't conjure something from nothing, like gold from coal, but that was more because it was illegal than impossible. While Fred may have been alright with living the chaos, as it gave him more room to experiment with products with his shop. But Michiko couldn't, it was anarchy!
"I just don't understand it!" Fred exclaimed, and Michiko had to close her book just to give her attention to putting her husband in his rightful place.
"It's just something people enjoy!"
"It's like watching Barbies!"
"Have you seen those boys move, they aren't plastic in any way."
"Nonetheless, they seem very fake to me."
"Have you ever been to a K-Pop concert? None of that is fake. They spend hours in dance lessons and singing lesson and just learning an entirely new language for their music."
"Wizard music is still better," He grumbled, ignoring her shushing him. She always felt nervous when he mentioned magic or the Wizarding world out loud.
"I'd like to see those Wizard musicians do what K-Pop stars do, without magic!" She added the last part knowing it was his weak spot. Magic was always what she used against him. It frustrated to no end, but then he looked at her eyes glowing with triumph and it was all okay.
Another thing Fred didn't seem to understand, train doors. The trains were packed with dozens of people all squished together, and they came pouring out when the doors opened. He held his wife in his arms in an enveloping hug to make sure no one touched her or stole anything. He stopped carrying money around after being robbed twice. His wallet stayed in Michiko's deep purse.
She stepped off the train with ease, avoiding the people who'd fallen quickly then turning around to find her husband when she was clear of the crowd. She found him among the people on the floor, passed out cold. She didn't know when, or how, but he must have hit his head. Pretty damn hard too, considering the swelling on his head and the purple gash at the back.
She sighed. Just when things couldn't get any worse.
The policemen helped her take him outside, and she called an ambulance with a calm and even voice. She had learned to live in chaos. She didn't like it, and there were times she was ready to use her magic to hex the world away. Today was one of those days, but she had to be calm. She had to be quiet when she waited for him to get out of surgery. She had to keep from panicking when she had to pay the bill. She had to keep her voice even as her mother-in-law yelled loudly into the phone. Owl delivered letters didn't work well anymore, and Arthur was insisted to try a cell phone. Of course, with magic, he got free reception. Michiko didn't know how, but he had managed somehow.
She sat calmly next to his hospital bed with his body stirred and his red hair turned over to face her. He made a funny face, his brow and nose twisting in confusion. "Who're you?"
She did her best to be patient. To keep her mind from assuming the worst. The doctors had said the drugs used to keep him under during surgery would cause a temporary lapse in his memory, but it wasn't permanent. Statistics were what she liked best, the kept the chaos under control. But now, it was only causing chaos in her mind as she remembered the cases she had found on the internet about permanent memory loss.
"Did the doctor send you?" Fred asked when she didn't respond.
She couldn't find the right words. Could she just jump in and hope he remembered? Should she bring out photos? She should stop panicking? Yes. Stopping panicking seems like a good idea.
"Man! You are eyecandy!"
Michiko burst into laughter. She couldn't tell if he was joking or not, but nonetheless it made her heart feel so much lighter. He was too drugged to use Japanese, but she didn't mind. English may have been her second language, but she was proud to say she was good at it. Except grammar. But no one's good at that.
"Are you a model?"
Michiko couldn't stop laughing to give him a proper answer, and had the curtesy to keep her hand over her mouth. He didn't care that she was laughing though. Maybe it was a joke.
"Who are you? What's your name?"
Her heart sunk a little, but the joy left from the laughter still lingered. Tears sat in her eyes, and if he made her laugh again she was sure they'd slip out.
"My name's Michiko. I'm your wife." She explained calmly, with a leftover smile shining on her face.
"You're my wife? Holy shit!" A doctor looked through the glass window, snarling distastefully at his words, but she couldn't care less.
"Oh my god!" Another look from the doctor, and a young nurse. "I hit the jackpot!"
The young nurse smiled and gave the doctor a nudge, who couldn't help but also smile when he looked at the prodding nurse.
