Your blood churned. Like butter slowly being made. It became heavy and pushed against your skin. Your cheeks were bulging red with a mixture of embarrassment and anger. Your lips felt chapped but you wouldn't lick them, the feeling alone was enough to bring on the sight of Harry kissing someone else. You hadn't seen it, but had heard enough to picture the worst. Every book in your arms was well prepared to be a weapon. Whether thrown like a knife or smashed like a club against his head. If you hit him right, his scar would ache against his forehead just like your heart ached against your chest.
Unfortunately the book plan didn't play out. Your feet stepped into the threshold of the classroom and you stared among the crowd of students to find Harry. A girl who kept glancing at the door and whispering spotted you first. Her pale blue eyes dropped sadly but she smiled, as though she had been dreading and hoping to see you at the same time. She furiously slapped her friend's arm before she caught his attention and he too was looking up. A chain reaction of whispers and gestures set every eye on you. Including Harry's. Behind his wiry glasses stained with rain his eyes were misty and sad. He winced in pain and his hand reached up to his eye where a dark black and purple mark had grown. You thought your face might look similar, with all the blood rising up.
"(Y/N)," He pleaded.
"Nice eye Harry," You said. "Did she give it to you?"
"I can explain."
"Me first," You said calmly, which was obviously offputting to Harry. Tears pushed against your eyes, but the blood boiling against your fidgeting hands was enough to keep them back. "You deserved that. I'll give you a matching one."
You clenched your fist and sent it right through Harry's other eye. The people around cried out, and some of them even seemed to be cheers. You couldn't tell anymore though, your blood was gone. The anger was empty, left to be filled with regret. Tears sprang to life. You didn't regret the growing bruise on his face, or the new crack in his glasses. You truly regretted ever loving him.
"Screw you Potter," You said. It hurt him, you were never formal with anyone.
The room was quiet, waiting for you to respond or for the crowd to build up the courage to do something. Neither happened. Tears were streaming from both yours and Harry's cheeks. The Professor's voice could be heard somewhere deep in the supply closet, and you quickly sat down at your seat. Your books sat on top of the desk, unused and rather disappointing. Harry went to the infirmary sometime during class, you were too preoccupied trying to stop the tears to notice. You clenched your fists and locked your jaw but no amount of tension could stop the tears or the deep stinging in your eyes and throat.
You didn't go to any classes the rest of the day. It wasn't like you to ditch, magic was your life. Studying it was all the mattered, discovering this new world and crossing territory that had never been touched or even mentioned before in your life. You were finding new worlds weren't always a good thing. Emotions for one, like betrayal and hatred. You didn't like either, but couldn't help having them around. They weren't rather bad company either. Hatred was rather fond of jasmine tea and when you let him roam free he wasn't as bad. He would wonder around the room, destroy a few things, but once he settled down into his seat he just remained still. A constant reminder, but not one that caused any damage anymore. Betrayal was a different story. You called him 'he' and he wasn't pleased, then went to 'she' and he was even more insulted. You just avoided pronouns altogether with him, or her. Betrayal dressed in different clothing every day, and some days Betrayal would sit with Hatred and chat, and other days Betrayal would stoke the fire until the carpet caught fire and you could no longer stop it and the entire house was burning. Both were nicer than nothing. They held up the roof and kept it from destroying everything beyond repair.
