(A/N it's been forever I know. 😬)
"Granger!" At the sound of her own last name Hermione doesn't turn around. Instead, the girl walking beside her does.
Camille turns around and almost stops walking. Hermione pulls her by the arm and she trails along backwards. Camille peers through the crowd of students, trying to find who's calling their name. Finally, she sees three orange heads bouncing along towards them.
Fred and George get there first, practically shoving people aside. Rom trails behind awkwardly, trying to stay close enough not to get caught in the crowd again. The twins start talking and are swept up into a debate with Hermione. Her twin doesn't bother to join in. It's a hopeless cause.
Camille walks next to Ron but he doesn't say a thing. He looks down at the ground and his face is red. He looks exhausted.
"Tired?" Camille teases and Ron only nods slowly.
"I was up all night studying for the exam," He says.
She pouts. "I would've stayed up with you and helped."
He smiles sheepishly. "It's alright. Hermione was there."
She nods and tries not to feel sad. She knows Hermione is better at Potions than her, but part of her still wants him to come to her. She still wants him to always come to her for everything under the sun until he doesn't leave again.
He nudges her slightly and flashes her the best smile he has. The kind he doesn't even use on Harry and Hermione. It makes her heart swim and eyes light up.
"Next time," He promises. "It's not like I'm going to learn Potions that quick."
She laughs, and opens her mouth to say something when Fred's voice interrupts.
He appears right beside Camille and she jumps slightly at the sudden sound. Ron has his hands up to hold her steady but it's not needed.
"Camille," He purrs and it's then that she realizes he's about to ask her for a favor. "George and I want to have a party, will you come?"
"Why haven't I heard of this?" Ron demands.
"It's for twins only," Fred waves him off. "So, what do you say Camille?"
"Is Hermione going?" She asks but she already knows the answer.
"I was hoping you'd convince her," Fred flashes her his best smile, the kind he uses on everyone.
She rolls her eyes. "Only if there's food and drink, and you're paying." Ron looks like he's about to swoon. She said exactly what he was thinking.
"Deal!" Both Fred and George insist on shaking her hand for extra measure.
They disappear into the crowd after quickly adding, "Bring a date!"
Camille spends the rest of the way trying to convince Hermione to go with her. She even promises to do the laundry for a week. Hermione doesn't know why she wants it so badly. Neither does Ron but he's too busy worrying about the Potions exam to think about it.
Camille needs this, and Hermione loves her too much to deny her it.
Camille barely passes her Potions test but she doesn't care. She runs up to Ron in the hallway just in time to catch him before he goes into the Gryffindor common room.
"Hey Ron," She's panting from the enchanted steps.
"Camille?"
"So, Fred and George are throwing that party and Hermione and I need dates."
He turns bright red. "You're asking me?"
"Of course I'm asking you," She says.
"So... would I be your date or Hermione's?"
In her mind it's not even a question but her mouth doesn't say that. "Whichever you like. Knowing Hermione she's not going to want to socialize so we'll all stick together the whole night."
"Alright," He says.
There's a silence before she nods and turns to leave. "See you tomorrow Ron."The next morning Camille wakes up early, but not on purpose. She wanders down the stairs to an empty common room and after that empty hallways. The potions exam scores are on the wall outside the classroom. Rubbing her eyes tiredly, she scans down the list to find her name. Her name comes before Hermione's but of course Hermione did better. She doesn't care about her score as much as she cares about the missing score at the bottom of the list. She can't find Ron's score and she can't help but think that's on purpose.
"Hi Camille."
She jumps at the sound and turns around to find she's not the only one who woke up early. The Weasley twins smile cheekily down at her.
"Do you two have something to do with this?" She gestures to the missing portion of the list.
George shrugs and Fred steps around her to look at the torn paper.
"You mean the fact you barely passed, that's all on you." Fred says.
Camille huffs angrily. "I don't care about that-"
"Of course you do, how else will you have an excuse to hang out with our adorable little brother?"
George chuckles behind the two. Camille turns and glares at him.
"I'll see you two at the party." She quickly walks away, but the twins are having none of it.
"Are you bringing a date?" Fred teases.
"Who is he?" George says.
Camille yawns instead of answering. "I'm too tired for your antics."
"Oh but I'm being totally serious my dear." Fred pouts and Camille feels even less patient.
"I really don't have the time or energy for you guys."
"But you have the energy to wake up early on a weekend just to see Ron's score?"
"That's not what I was doing!" Camille sounds so flustered the twins know they've hit a nerve.
"Then you wouldn't be interested in...this would you?" Fred pulls out a torn slip of paper from his back pocket.
She tries to hold her composure and resists grabbing the paper from his hand or slapping the cheeky smile from his face.
"What's that?" She asks casually.
"Just a little trinket we picked up from our brother dearest."
She can't help but be angry.
"So, do you want a peak?" Fred waves the paper in front of her.
"I'm not interested."
"But of course you are. Don't you want to know why Ron wanted to hide this so desperately?"
She does but she certainly won't tell them that. She knows better than to owe a favor to the twins.
Before she can answer, there is yet another voice in the room.
"Since when do you go through my stuff!" Ron looks bright red and angry. Camille steps away slowly from the twins and Ron doesn't seem to notice her trying to sneak away. George does though. He reaches out and grabs her, pulling her back towards the pair and back into the conversation.
Ron looks defeated, the red running from his face. "Were you in on this too?" He asks her.
"Of course not!" She says.
"Then what were you doing with them?" His face turns red.
"I have no idea. But whatever it was I'm done." She pulls away from George and stalks off to the dorms without a second glance, leaving them to argue amongst themselves."Sick of twins. Sick of Weasleys. Sick of boys. Sick of tests." She grumbles up the stairs and into her dorm to a very confused Hermione. Still half asleep, she looks up at her sister through blurry and half open eyes.
"What did I miss?"
"You don't want to know."
"You're probably being dramatic."
"Well if anyone knows dramatic it's me. Second place to those... Those Weasley twins." She groans, throwing herself on to the bed beside her twin, her groans muffled by the pillow.
"Fred and George again?" Hermione sounds sympathetic.
Camille only nods in response. Hermione pats her back and says, "I'll take care of it." Camille hears the door unlock, open and close. She lays still until it opend and closes again.
"Hermione?"
Hermione sighs. "So there's no hope for Fred and George-"
"Typical."
"Ron isn't much better either."
Camille doesn't respond or move. After and moment she sighs and lifts her head to look at her sister. "Is he mad at me?"
Hermione pauses at the broken look on her sister's face. She wants more than anything to take that away and make her smile again.
"Let's just go to Hogsmeade and get ready for this party ok?"
~
"I'm not so sure I want to go to this party anymore Hermione." Camille looks at her reflection in the mirror. She feels deflated in her party dress and small in her shoes.
"Of course you want to go Cam, twins remember? I can't go without you."
Camille scoffs. "I know you don't want to go either." She lays on her bed and looks at Hermione pleadingly. "Let's just stay in and eat those chocolates you bought and read. Doesn't that sound nice?"
"You already ate half the chocolates."
"Then we'll eat the rest. Anything other than this stupid party."
"It's not stupid, you'll have fun. Besides, there aren't that many twins in Hogwarts they'll notice if we don't go."
"Let them, I don't really care what they think. Especially Fred and George."
"What about Ron? He'll notice."
Camille falls silent at the mention of Ron.
"I thought so. Now let's go."
Camille gets up and smooths out her dress. She looks in the mirror again before leaving and regrets it. She feels exhausted.
Hermione leads her down to the common room and through the hallways, looking back behind her to check Camille is still there.
"We're late so Harry and Ron are probably went ahead without us."
Camille doesn't respond as Hermione shoves aside a statue and the two slip in together.
"I hate this." Camille says absentmindedly.
"No you don't."
Camille scoffed. The two fell silent as they walked down the dark tunnel, Hermione's wand lighting the way. Eventually they started to hear the distant beat of music playing. Camille started to feel even more anxious.
"Enjoy yourself," Hermione sounded like she was begging her sister.
"Yes ma'am," She giggled.
Hermione ignored the jab for the sake of the smile that shone briefly on her sister's face.
The room was small but here weren't a lot of people. Fred and George were on the other side of the room with some people Camille didn't know. Ron and Harry were on the right at a large table with food and drinks, where she would expect them to be. She and Hermione weaved through the dance floor in their way on the way to the table.
Harry instantly noticed them and nudged Ron. Ron looked up with a full mouth and at making eye contact with Camille he turned bright red. He quickly wiped down his mouth and stepped around the table to reach them. He smiled at Hermione quickly and went straight for Camille. Seeing this, Hermione left the two and went to Harry.
"Can I talk to you?"
"Are you still mad at me?" Their questions came out almost simultaneously and they simultaneously turned red in there cheeks.
"I'm sorry Camille I wasn't angry with you, just embarrassed about my test score." He reached up and scratched the back of his neck. "I didn't want you to think I was stupid so I tore it off."
"I wouldn't think you were stupid."
"I should know that by now," He chuckled nervously. "but you know how I get."
She smiled. "I know because I'm like that too."
Ron chuckled but there followed an awkward silence of only the music and other couples chatter.
"So how about I show you some smart moves on the dance floor?" Ron asked cheekily.
She burst out laughing. "Tell me Fred and George made you rehearse that, it's too perfect."
"You know me too well."
