(A/N I know I haven't updated in a while, but I think this one is the longest one yet. This story hit 300 reads a week or so ago!! I'm super happy! I know it's a small number compared to some books here on Wattpad, but it's a huge milestone for me and it's absolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone reading, requests and advice are always wanted and taken. :-) I hope you all enjoy my latest one-shot, this one including the adorable bookworm Remus. And maybe a few shout-outs to one of my favorite books... ;-) I couldn't help myself.)
"Good Morning Madam Pomfrey." You greeted the kind matron as you entered the hospital wing, already making your way to a pair of sanitized gloves.
"Is it truly morning already?" She asked in disbelief, wiping her hands down as she emerged from behind a curtain surrounding one of the filled beds. She turned for only a moment to close it then greeted you with a soft smile.
"Indeed it is, the nights are shorter now so I can come in sooner."
"Ah yes, that was yesterday wasn't it?" She asks worriedly. "Are you sure you want to work today?"
You wave dismissively and walk toward the farthest side of the room, where the patients in need of most care are resting. "It wasn't too bad, and besides, you need to take a break eventually."
After much tired arguing and your signature stare Madam Pomfrey finally agrees to rest, though at first she wants to sleep on one of the hospital beds in case there is an emergency, but you assure her multiple times and she finally agrees to retire to her bedroom for a proper sleep. You had extensive experience and education in the medical field and she knew it. You'd been treating patients in the hospital wing since your third year, and you aspired to be a doctor in the muggle world when you graduated. With the potions you've learned to create and the amazing healing spells you had the power to help tons of muggles and advance their medical fields even further.
With a content sigh you attend to your usual duties, taking and logging the vitals of each patient. Most were students who had been injured in last weeks Quidditch match. Two chasers with broken arms from bludgers, one with a broken leg, a beater who's missed the bludger and snapped their shoulder, and a keeper who'd leaned too far for the quaffle and breaking their nose and dislocated a shoulder. There were quite a few injuries to attend to, not including the multiple first years who always find their way falling off the moving stairs for a variety of reasons.
Turning Joffery over in his sleep so he wouldn't choke on his own barf, changing Hannah's bandages, catching Lois before he escaped the hospital wing and spread his pox to other students. Lois always hated the hospital wing and would typically be nervous and jittery and wouldn't sleep for days, but his pox brought a new insanity to his mind and the need to spread the disease to others. Fortunately the only way for the disease to spread was the mixture of blood, and with magic he could be easily restrained and you would avoid being infected. A busy day as usual, and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
"It's alright Alice." You spoke quietly as you held the small girl's hand and she attempted to sleep through her beating fever and quaking stomach.
"Madam Pomfrey!" The male voice screamed with desperation and the only doors in the room were launched forward with inhuman strength.
Many of the patient stirred in their beds, panicked by the sudden arrival. "Return to your beds!" You yelled authoritatively to the ones who'd left their beds. Shocked by the sudden overpowering panic in your eyes, they listened.
"What happened?" You asked frantically as you rushed to the doors. In them stood Sirius Black, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew holding an all too familiar unconscious body in their arms.
