~Mikayla~
The next few days came out as weird and awkward for me. My mom was never there so I didn't know how to act with Jason's mom. She was so caring and nice towards me that it made me think of what I missed all these years. It's not like my dad was never there for me. He filled the spot of both parents and I was okay with that.
One evening while I was helping Lizlee cook since her aunt had gone to the store along with Denise since apparently Jason and Lizlee were giving her the cold shoulder. I haven't spoken to her since I got here and she seemed fine with that so I was fine with that.
"No, no you're doing it all wrong!" Lizlee said as she brought me back from my thoughts.
"Well then why don't you do it!" I retorted back. I slammed the pan on the counter as I took it out of the oven. We were making cake for desert after dinner --lasagna-- but apparently everything I did or touched was wrong. I was taking out the cake out but I was 'holding it wrong'.
"I'm not gonna put the cake back in there just to take it out the right way!" She answered as I took the oven mitten off and threw it to her.
"Then stop judging me!" I replied.
"Then learn how to properly make cake!" She responded.
"Well sorry that I don't know how! Sorry that my mom wasn't there to buy the ingredients to make cake or to even teach me! You at least had your mom." I commented.
"So you do have anger issues. Now no need to get angry." Lizlee's aunt pointed out as she came in. I looked away embarrassed that she had to witness that.
"Come Mikayla. Just leave everything." She told me as she took me to the living room. There was two living rooms so she took me to the more private one.
"Now what do you mean that you didn't have your mom?" She started off as we sat down. It was just the two of us in the dark living room. I wondered why she didn't turn on the light.
"Jason broke the light the last time he came and I haven't gotten around to fixing it." She said as if she read my thoughts.
"Anyways back to the question." Dammit I was hoping she would change the subject.
"My mom left us when I was around three so it was always just my sister, brother, dad, and me. I always knew my dad loved me but I always knew that we didn't have a normal family. I would see children with their moms but mine was never there. I knew something was missing." I told her.
"Why do you get mad easily?" She asked this time.
"I wasn't like that before. It happened after something happened but I really don't wanna explain what happened." I explained briefly. She nodded in understanding.
"Well next time don't get so angry easily. Think about what just happened before you react and if you find it offensive or at any sort just rethink what you're gonna say. Also close your eyes and breathe in and out. Remember this the next time okay?" She advised.
"You know Lizlee's mom suicided herself when she was born. Her dad had gotten her mom, my sister, pregnant so I never knew who he was. She loved Lizlee very much but without a father to help her with rent and stuff she became depressed and simply gave up on life. I took her in and became her new mother but I always remind her that my sister did love her very much. It was just to much for her to handle." She explained as I nodded my head and then she got up and left me alone.
"Why did your mom leave you?" Jason asked as he came into the living room.
"You were eavesdropping?!" I asked taken aback.
