~Mikayla~

Just as I'm about to go after Lizlee, Aiden beats me to it, and also the choir teacher makes me set up for my duet performance with Jacob welcoming principal Trevor back. Internally I groan and march over outside. Everyone is leaving the cafteria and setting everything outside.

They set logs all around a small center stage where a small fire is set on each side of the stage. There's two microphones and a few speakers. On top there's hanging lights all over and a banner welcoming principal Trevor back. I smile at it silently but when I see I'm going to be singing with Jacob, my smile turns into a scowl.

"What song will you two be singing?" Th choir asks us quickly. Jacob won't meet my eyes and I already had a song picked so I tell him. He nods and then makes us go on stage but before he can I go over to Carson quickly.

"Keep an eye on Jason and Lizlee if you see her, please." I say and he nods. I quickly kiss him on the cheek and then run back to the stage. Everybody in the campus is crowded around and right now we're just singing for entertainment.

Someone will signal us when principal Trevor enters the parking lot so for now we're just having fun. Well at least the crowd is, because the entertainers aren't.

The music starts and Jacob gets ready sing:

I remember what you wore on the first day

You came into my life and I thought

"Hey, you know, this could be something"

'Cause everything you do and words you say

You know that it all takes my breath away

And now I'm left with nothing

Then I soon joined along on the melody:

So maybe it's true

That I can't live without you

And maybe two is better than one

But there's so much time

To figure out the rest of my life

And you've already got me coming undone

And I'm thinking two is better than one

As I'm singing I look around the crowd of faces in hope of spotting Lizlee. I don't see her anywhere though. I sigh and continue singing. Just as we're finished we here someone clapping. Everybody turns to the back and everyone parts. In the middle comes principal Trevor walking with crutches slowly.

I thought someone was supposed to signal us. Those liars! I look around and see everybody looking at the principal with the same confused look. Then everyone turns to the person who was supposed to signal us when he was coming. The poor guy looks down, feeling bad.

"Beautiful." The principal compliments. There's a blue cast around his leg and he has a few stitches on his forehead.

"Thank you." I whisper into the mic, staring at him. He was like a father to me. It just reminded me how much alike he was like my real dad, that it hurt to even look at him.

"No, thank you for welcoming me. You too, Jacob." He responds and walks on stage to give his welcoming speech. I then go searching for Aiden.

I run to the direction I lost saw him and finally spot him. I catch up to him, almost crashing into him, and grab his arm. "Aiden, your...dad...is back." I tell him sadly, not sure how to explain. He looks back at me keeping a neutral expression. "I think you should talk to him. Like actually talk to him. Let him explain everything." I add. He nods and then hugs me.
