Chapter 18
“Morning.” A bubbly voice sounded further down in the hall as I began to sit up on bed. Once I was up, I knew something was wrong. I looked around and my eyes bulged out as I saw Kyler sleeping beside me probably naked considering his state of undress on his top half. It wasn’t hard to remember what happened. Why had I let him? I clambered out of bed dragging the sheet along with me, waking Kyler up as the cold air met his body.
He sat up and I looked anyway but at him. He groaned as he sat up and rubbed his temples, probably trying to soothe the raging headache from his hangover. As he looked across the bed at me, his jaw dropped open.
All of a sudden the bedroom door burst open and a petite brunette came running in. She froze as she saw the scene in front of her before instantly covering her eyes.
“Oh my god, Kyler, put some clothes on.” She turned and faced the wall took a few deep breaths while Kyler grabbed some of the clothes on the floor. I wrapped the sheets around my body tightly and leaned against the wall.
“Sherey, shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were coming back today.” He climbed over the bed and the blonde turned back around.
“Kyler, god, keep your pants on. Do you know how awkward it is for me to have to walk in on you?” She rolled her eyes and then looked pointedly at me.
“I thought you guys were fake? Dad said that you needed her to find out who’s sabotaging –” Kyler jumped off the bed and covered her mouth before whispering quietly to her. He began to push her out but she yelled a few things to me before she surrendered and left the room.
“You know Serenity, I’m Sherey, Kyler’s sister. It’s been a pleasure to meet you but I wish it wasn’t when you were only covered in a sheet! I’ll be seeing you later.”
As the door closed, the silence fell and we just looked at each other. Kyler ran a hand through his hair before sighing and leaning against the wall furthest away from me and spoke, “Look. I’m not sure how this happened –”
“You were drunk.” I stated.
“And where you?” He snapped back, making it seem like it was all my fault.
No comment. I waited briefly before he started up again.
“Devon took me out to drink at a club after one of the functions. It was a tedious one where you stood and listened to someone drone on and on about something. He told me to loosen up and I drank a few too many drinks. I didn’t mean for this to happen. I’m sorry.” He looked at me and apologized sincerely and I nodded.
“We better get dressed. I don’t want to leave your sister out there waiting.” I grabbed the few pieces of clothing of the floor that I could label as mine before heading to the bathroom and putting them on. As I left, I noticed Kyler was waiting outside to use the bathroom. I looked at him fleetingly before handing him the sheet and speeding out of the room and back to my own which was across the hallway.
I changed out of my old clothes and put on a fresh dress before heading out of the room. I walked down one of the huge staircases. I peered around and my heart jumped as I saw his sister waiting in the living room.
“Serenity, it’s so good to finally meet you. I’m Kyler’s sister, Sherey.” She got up off the lounge and pulled me into a hug. She got a small sly smirk on her face and she whispered quietly, “So, I walked in on you two, how was my brother?”
I blushed and pulled away. “Sherey, it’s nice to meet you. Call me Reni.” I ignored her comment and sat down on the lounge.
“Kyler’s never told me about you and you don’t seem to appear on the news.”
