Ella's POV
As us girls approached the guys, dragons were erupting inside my stomach. I fiddled with my hands and walked over to Jeremy.
"Hey." I say to him, still looking at my feet. He puts his index finger under my chin and lifts my head so I'm looking into his eyes.
"You look so stunning. I would say more but I can't find any words to describe how amazing you look. All the words like amazing, hot, beautiful and stunning aren't enough." He tells me. I search his eyes for any signs of lies but nothing is there. He offers his arm for me and I take it with a smile. We walk with the rest of the group towards the dining hall. When we reach it, we see all our parents cars parked out front. I look and I see our Honda, probably since after we have our party tonight, we all leave first thing tomorrow. There are cabins for the adults to use over night since the party will be going till late.
When we all enter the hall and all eyes are on us kids. The oldest enter first. I see Lucas and send him a wink. He winks back with a lop sided grin. Him and his date, a beautiful looking brunette on his arm, are the first to enter. After them, they go down from the seniors to us, the sophomores. When it is Jeremy's and my turn to enter, he looks to me and gives me a quick kiss on the cheek causing me to blush as we enter. He smiles and waves at a younger couple while I look for my father and step monster. I see my father but I see he is alone but on his phone. They all are clapping at us. I look behind us and see a banner with arrows and a caption saying
Queen and King of the camp this summer
I look at Jeremy with a look of puzzlement on my face. He mouths to me that he will explain later. I look over at my father again to see if he is off his phone yet, which he isn't. I feel my shoulders slump and let my gaze drop to the floor in sadness. I guess Jeremy can sense the change in my mood when I leans down and whispers.
"What's wrong?"
"It's my dad. He is on his phone and hasn't even noticed me yet." I tell him, holding back the tears that threaten to fall..
"What one is he?" He asks.
"The only one that is on his phone" Stating the truth. What he does next is what I will never forget. He walks over to the DJ booth and takes the mic off the stand.
"Excuse me. To the sir that is on his phone will you kindly look up to notice your daughter is here and she hasn't seen you in two months. Please be respect full enough to notice how upset she is over this." He says looking at my dad. Hearing the phone part, he looks up and blinks. He looks around at everyone glaring at him. It takes him about 30 seconds to spot me. When he does, his face softens, probably seeing the resemblance between me and my mother.
"Ella-" He starts. I shake my head and walk backwards away from his figure coming over to me.
"No father. You had your chance." I spit at him before running out the door. I run all the way to the dock on the lake side. I sit down, making sure my dress doesn't get wet, take off my heels, and let my feet dangle in the water. I look down at my reflection. I just close my eyes and listen to the sound of nature. I hear the birds softly chirping, the fish coming up for water, the rustle of leaves as the wind blows through them. I open my eyes to see the reflection of not only me, but of my mother and her hand on my shoulder.
I turn my head but see no hand on my shoulder. I look down again and see my mother with a sad smile on her face. I see her pull a small flower from her pocket and put it in my hair. She sits down beside me and just looks at me.
"You look so beautiful sweetie" She tells me. I turn and put my head on her shoulder, hugging her and breathing in her scent. Still the same as when I was younger.
