The Last Dance

When we walk into the dining hall it's like it wasn't the place we trashed with the food fight only weeks ago. All the windows are blocked with patches of black paper so no light can get in, there is a fog machine, amps everywhere and tons of flashing lights. But the thing that catches every ones eye is the DJ booth. I see the kid that tried to fix the computer ever so long ago up there with headphones around his next as he blasts the next song. I pull Tally aside and ask.

"Would you hate me if I changed my shoes? " I hopefully ask. She just laughs and takes my hand, leading me to the kitchen. She gives Mr.Chef, who is manning the drink booth, and continues to lead me. We get into the closet holding all the aprons and pulls two boxes out from the floor.

"I keep these here for dances." She says with a smile. She hands me one and I notice the converse label on it. I open mine and see a pair of purple vans. I find the nearest chair and slip my heels off and find a pair of ankle socks freshly placed in the box. I slip the socks and shoes on and stand up. I wait for Tally and we put our heels in the closet for us to retrieve later. We head back to the dance arm in arm, on a mission to find the guys.

We locate them in the center of the mosh pit. What they did was put the tables on their side to make the dance floor smaller. In other words, created a most pit of soon to be sweaty teenagers. We find them and start dancing. We sing out hearts out till our throats are hurting. I grab Jeremy's hand and lead him to the drink booth. We grab a glass of pop, Diet Pepsi for me and root beer for him, and chug the cup right there. Once we catch our breaths we head back in.

We find Tally and Nate grinding and I feel Jeremy place his hands on my hips and pull me flush against him. I don't mind the feeling so I go with it. I reach my arm up and pull on his neck so his head is next to mine. I have to talk a bit louder then normal so he can hear me.

" I've never grinded before" I tell him, worried he will laugh in my face but he doesn't.

"It's easy. Just go with the flow." He tells me and stands back up. I look around at the other girls and see what they are doing. I do my best to copy them till my years of going to dance camps in the summer come rushing back to me. I start to do one of my hip hop routines and get into it. Pretty soon they have made a circle and they are chanting my name.

"Ella! Ella! Ella! Ella!" I get so into the routine I don't notice the people join me. Pretty soon we have the whole camp dancing. Once it finishes, I notice everyone. They all start cheering and I have to find Jeremy, Nate and Tally. I find them a little way to my left and I make my way over to them. When I reach them I see they are in deep discussion. I am glad I can kinda read lips.

Nate; Are you going to ask her?

Jeremy; I haven't gotten to it. After the chat with her father, I want her to enjoy the night before I ask her

Tally; Well the night is not even half done so you have time. Just don't forget to. The sooner you ask her the better

I am confused at what I heard but I put a smile on my face and walk over to where they are standing. We head back to the mosh pit and I give Tally the signal. We start clearing everyone away so we have space. Every since I Found out about the dance, I had been teaching Tally a dance routine that I made. We would bring an iPod with us and practice. We talked with the guy at the booth and gave him the signal. He started playing the song. (Play song on side =======>) We start to move, waiting for it to get to the good part and we dance. (You can stop the song once it is over. I like this song and I like the beat.... yeah, it has nothing to do with the rest of the chapter. Or what little is left of it)

Once the song is over, we take a bow and start laughing. The DJ decides to play a slow song. All the couples make their way to the dance floor. Jeremy comes over to me and puts his hands on my hips, and I put my hands on his shoulders.

"Ella, I need to talk to you" He tells me, his voice weighing heavy with solemness .

"What's wrong? Are you breaking up with me?" I ask him, trying to hold the tears back. This seems to have him back to reality, because his face hardens.

"Why would you think that? I wouldn't break up with you. I need to ask you something." He tells me. I give him the look, telling him to continue.

"Will you, possible, maybe, consider staying here for the year?" He asks. I am shocked at the question.

"Jeremy, I don't know what to say..."

"Jeremy, I don't know what to say." I tell him the truth. He looks like Nate when he saw me and Jeremy for the first time. I look up into his eyes and give him my answer.

"OF course I will. I will have to arrange it with my dad but he lets me do whatever!" I tell him, the excitement leak into my voice. He looks to Tally and Nate and give them a nod with a smile on his face.

We spend the rest of the night dancing. It was so fun I forgot about all the issues with my father. When the dance ended, we left and walked outside, into the warm beginning of fall air. Me and Jeremy walk over to the fire pit they have made so we can hang out a little longer since tomorrow was the last day for the summer campers. We grab a blanket from Sharon and Jeremy has a quick word with her. Once they are done whispering, she has a big smile on her face when she looks at me. I ask if I can have a word with her after.

"Yes dear?" She asks me once we are a bit away from the group.

"Well I had an idea you might enjoy." And I begin explaining to her.

Oh I had some cringe moments reading this chapter...
