Beta Devin ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair with an exasperated sigh there were so many different options he could pick to protect May but he had no idea what to pick so he turned to Noah, the omega he brought with him to assist in the capture. He wouldn't normally associate with someone with such a low rank but he had no idea what to do this was his only option. He needed to pick Noah's brain for more ideas or which one's best. He figured he might prove useful seeing as though they'd both get in trouble and as he's an omega his punishment would be far worse. He could threaten Noah by blaming him and getting off without so much as a slap on the wrist, but as it was, it wasn't just his and Noah's ass on the line it was May's too.

He couldn't do that to a girl, he can disrespect and order around anyone he wants bar Alpha Gage and Iris but he was always taught by his mother not to hurt girls and by bringing May back he had indirectly put her in a position that could cause her harm and it'd be his fault. He told himself then that he would protect May for his mother.

He sighed again and cursed his patience; he should've just waited for her to be on her own to collect her. Again he ran his hand through his hair before he began to pull up the truck at the side of the road.

The truck rolled to a stop at the side of the road as Devin pulled in. He put on the hand brake and turned off the engine. He turned to Noah and shook his head in embarrassment, him the great Beta of the Blue Moon pack was about to ask a lowly nobody omega wolf for advice. Just shoot me now he thought as he imagined all the Betas and Alphas of the past turn in their graves at a Beta asking an Omega for advice.

Iris grew nervous as the truck stopped this was it, they were going to kill her and leave her at the side of the road in a ditch bleeding, while May was taken god knows where for god knows what! Iris felt the silent tears run down her face, the only signs she cried were the tell-tale signs of wet streaked fur by each side of her muzzle. She cuddled up to May's still unconscious body.

While Iris was internally panicking Devin had placed a finger to his lips to stop Noah inevitably asking why they'd stopped. He turned the radio on to cover their conversation from any ears that may be listening from the back and was slightly irritated when an inappropriate Taylor Swift song came on, Safe and sound, yeah right at the moment they were screwed unless the omega had an idea.

Now that the girls couldn't hear them Devin turned to Noah and sighed.

"The other girl, we need to come up with something or I'm screwed, you're screwed and she's royally screwed. I've been thinking he wouldn't take kindly to us bringing her back without a good reason and I can't seem to think of one."

Noah couldn't believe that someone so high ranked had asked him for help but he was the only one here so Devin couldn't really ask anyone else to be fair unless he asked the girls in the back and that would just create a mess. But Devin was right if anything happened to May now it would be their faults. So when their Alpha female cried for her friend and felt guilty since this was all for her it would be their faults. The thought of causing pain to the petite girl they'd been watching all this time twisted his gut up in knots. She didn't know what was going on their Alpha female was clueless and lacking in street smarts. May had kept Iris safe for them now it was their turn to keep May safe for Iris.

It's hard for any low ranking wolf not to love their leaders it's biologically programmed into every wolf to love those above them unless challenging them, and in that moment Noah knew he loved his Alpha female and her best friend. Even though neither of them are officially in the Blue moon pack the wolf part of him knew they would be and that was enough for him.

"How about we just explain?" Noah responded.

"Explain! Explain what? How we were too incompetent to follow specific instructions? How we got tired of waiting and bought her friend along with us? How we forgot to waterproof the cage cover so now they're probably wet and cold from the rain?" Devin whispered furiously still trying to keep the volume down even with the radio playing.

"No of course not I'm not an idiot; we explain how the whole time we watched them they were joined at the hip, so we decided to get both of them as we thought our new Alpha female would like her best friend to join our pack too and that we thought she would feel more at home with her closest friend present. But as for the waterproofing he won't notice as long as they show up dry right? So we swing by your place and grab them some towels easy." Noah replied. He may have just been an omega but it was by choice he could easily climb a few ranks with his wit as brute force and strength can only get you oh so far.

Devin immediately calmed down and faced forwards maybe Noah was on to something. If they made it seem like they did it for Iris then their Alpha surely couldn't be angry with them could he?

Devin nodded his head and put the key back in the ignition. The truck roared to life and jolted forwards. When the truck jolted it jostled May's form against the side of the cage and she began to stir. She sat up confused and groggy her head pounding. Then everything washed over her as she saw Iris sat opposite her staring at her. It was time she had to explain to Iris and she had to do it before they arrived at their destination.

So May changed back to her human form to tell Iris everything while their captors couldn't hear. Between the rain, the wind, the radio and the traffic their conversation would be heard by only them. May hugged her knees to herself to keep herself warm she wasn't too bothered about being in her birthday suit in front of Iris it happened all the time in the werewolf community so wasn't really a big thing. Iris changed back too and mimicked May's position as she waited to see what May would say.

May explained everything in great deal and tried to explain her way of thinking to Iris about how she didn't want her to be alone forever. Then about how when she saw the matches she tried make it go away and she tried to protect Iris. The whole time Iris sat opposite her staring blankly taking in every word May said.

"I'm so sorry Iris! I never meant for this to happen, I just meant to find your mate for you and then I was going to tell him everything and I was going to get him to help me make up a romantic way for him to meet you so it'd be just like how you wanted to meet your mate. I never meant for any of this to happen Iris, I never even thought something like this would happen. I just wanted you to be happy. Please Iris, say something! Anything! Please? I'm so sorry." May's eyes were red from crying and her face was wet from the water dripping through the cover but also from the salty tears that streaked her face. Iris sat perfectly still searching May's face.
