Ethan's POV

I desperately searched through the dark blood hoping to find the source of her bleeding. She stopped screaming and fighting, I don't think she feels the pain anymore. And that's not a good sign. No matter how much suction I used, she kept bleeding and I couldn't see anything. I'm not experienced enough for this and I can't do this alone. It's just not possible. For a few moments I was in denial and I kept searching.
"Ethan.." She choked out. I put down the suction and took a breath. I looked over at her.
She was completely white, purple lips with blood stained on them from coughing it up. She was breathing unevenly, and her once ice hard blue eyes were soft. "Ethan... I'm dying. It's alright, you can say it." She spoke softly, I almost couldn't hear her. I felt the tears forming in my eyes. She is dying.
"If I could just find the bleeder and-" she cut me off.
"You're not going to find it and you know that." She said. She was right, as she always is. I love that about her, she's so smart and confident.
"Scarlet.." I whispered to her soothingly. I was now choked up and a tear escaped from my eye.
"You don't have to say it just because I'm dying-" she let out a small laugh that turned into a whimper as it caused blood to squirt out of her wound.
"I'm not just saying it." I interrupted her. "Scarlet Lorraine, I love you. I love you so much. I have since the day I met you and you can't die, okay? You have to stay alive. Just a little longer. Help will be here soon, just please stay alive." Tears were pouring down my cheeks now. I don't usually cry, ever.
"I- I love you t-too." She was crying too. I saw fear in her eyes, but I'm not sure what she was afraid of. I started stroking her hair with one hand, and I laced my fingers in hers with my other hand. She closed her eyes, and I could no longer hear her light breaths.
"No. No. Scarlet! Scarlet please." I sobbed over her. In that exact moment the door creaked open. I snapped my head up to see police men.
"This floor is clear." One of the men stated. If only she waited one more minute.
"Can you bring her to the ambulance outside? I'm going to start CPR." I answered shakily. They nodded their heads and I climbed on top of her, pressing my hands into her chest.
"Come on, Scarlet. Come on." I yelled through my teeth as the police rushed the gourney we were on towards the elevator.

Scarlet's POV
My eyes fluttered open to be blinded by the bright hospital lights. I squinted my eyes as I tried to remember what happened. Right, I got shot. I gazed around the room. There were IVs in my arms with blood flowing through some of them. I remembered the terrifying image of Ethan drenched in my blood as he threw down the suction. I looked to the corner of the room to see Ethan sleeping on the chair. He probably refused to leave. I was about to call his name and wake him up when I remember what he said to me. "I love you so much." If I wake him up, there's no going back. We can't avoid that or what happened the night before.. I swallowed my pride and called his name anyways.
"Wha- is she o- Scarlet! You're awake, oh thank god. How do you feel?" He questioned me with a sleepy voice.
"Thank you so much." I whispered.
"For what?" He asked, clearly confused.
"For caring." I replied. He stood there for a minute before the widest smile appeared on his face.
