"Good Morning babe." Ethan's tired raspy voice mumbled as the alarm rang through my ears. It's an icy day in March, so the E.R. Must be crowded as shit, which is why we're getting paged. It's only 5:30 am. We quickly pulled on our scrubs and sprinted over to the car.
"Not it, you have to drive!!" I giggled as I placed my finger on my nose. He rolled his eyes and laughed as he got into the drivers seat.
"I don't know if I trust you driving on ice actually." I joked.
"Well that's because you have trust issues." He laughed. I do have trust issues.
"You think I have trust issues?" I asked. I'm just curious.
"Well, yea. We have been dating for 4 months and you still try to stop yourself from blushing when I compliment you. It's obvious you don't want me to see how much you lovveee me." He started laughing at himself.
"Whatever." I laughed with him as I felt my face turn a bright red.

"What do we have??" I demanded as the paramedics jumped out of the ambulance truck. They rushed over to the back and rolled the patient out. It was a women, maybe in her 50's.
"She went skydiving and landed harshly on some fence.. And.." He pulled the blanket off her to reveal a piece of the fence lodged into her chest. My jaw dropped for a second, I'm not sure I can do this!! She was covered in blood and shaking.
"Everything's going to be okay m'am. I got you now." I whispered into her ear as I rushed her inside. She was mumbling something, so I leaned down closer to her.
"What are you saying? Could you speak a little louder?" I asked softly.
"I-I didn't tell him. I was gonna tell him I loved him after I did something else that terrified me, which was skydiving..." She muttered. She was clearly in shock. She wasn't bleeding out, and her vitals were stable, so I took her into a patient room to evaluate the problem. She was starting to face reality now.
"Do you remember what happened?" I asked, to make sure she didn't have any brain damage.
"Of course I do. I was skydiving." She whispered. I made a face. Skydiving is stupid and as you can see, dangerous.
"I know what you're thinking, that I'm crazy. Well I'm not. Skydiving is my biggest fear and I agree with you that it's stupid." She replied to my facial expression.
"Then why did you do it?" I challenged her as I pressed down on her wound.
"Ow! Let me explain. I'm married. Im 58 years old and I have been married to a kind man since I was 24. But we got a butler, and I fell in love with him when I was 28. He's not like my husband, he is lonely and sweet and doesn't care about money. Of course I haven't told him, in fear he doesn't feel the same, or my husband will not take it lightly. I decided that if I do something that scares me even more, then I have to tell him." She explained.
"That's amazing. You have loved him for that long and haven't told him? Wow." Was all I could say. I don't know why she's telling me about her personal life though. I don't give a shit. I took her into the Xray room to see where the fence was inside her."No this isn't good, it's in her heart." I announced to the nurse next to me. "As soon as we pull it out, we have to work very quickly to save her. Its a long shot though. Can you page Dr. Burke in cardio?" Dr. Burke is the best heart surgeon in the hospital, and I need the best for this.
"You cant be serious." She whined as I told my patient the bad news. "But I didn't tell him! You're going to pull it out and I'm going to die and I didn't tell him." She gasped.
"Call him." I said after a moment.
"You want me to tell him over the phone that I've been in love with him for 30 years? Are you crazy?" She laughed at me.
"No, of course not! Call him and tell him to come here, and to not tell your husband because you don't want to worry him." I explained. She nodded and I left her to call him.
"Can you believe that?" I gossiped on the phone to Ethan about my patient.
"That's insane. Poor girl!" He exclaimed.
"Oh crap, Scarlet I gotta go. I'm getting paged 911. I'll see you later." He yelled and hung up.

"He said he will be here in 30 minutes." She said, gasping for air. She was drained of her color and her heart was getting weak.
"I don't think we have thirty minutes." Dr. Burke stated.
"No, we have to wait. You said that I have a 10% chance of survival. I'm obviously going to die. So please, just wait." She begged.
"Mrs. Dimaria... You won't be breathing in 30 minutes." I whispered.
"Oh, oh god." She cried to us. All she wanted was to tell him the truth. "How long do I have?" She asked.
"About 3 minutes." Dr. Burke said sadly. "I'm sorry."
"Can you promise me something?" She looked at me with hope in her eyes. I nodded for her to go on.
"Tell him. Tell him I loved him for 30 years. And when you fall in love? Tell him. And if you're not sure if the man you love really loves you, ask him. Don't wait. Don't wait like I did. Please." She begged me.
"Of course. Of course I'll tell him." Tears were forming in my eyes. "I can't be here right now." I whispered to Burke and rushed through the hallways for Ethan.

"Ethan! There you are! I have to ask you something urgent." I claimed.
"Hey, what's u-" I cut him off.
"Are you in love with me?" I asked. "You've never said it, except for when I was dying. And that doesn't count." I stated nervously as I played with my fingers.
"I am so in love with you that it scares me. I'm so in love with you that I don't think I can live without you." He whispered before placing a kiss on my cheek.Heyy, sorry this chapter was so long. I hope you liked it though! Leave a comment if you want the next chapter!!
