"You guys are doing a really good job with Bohemian Rhapsody, so we're gonna staaaaaart.... Use Somebody, so if you guys could get that out of your folders..." Mr. C said.
Everyone grabbed the designated papers out of their folders. "Cam, Leah, you two can fight amongst yourselves on who wants the solo guitar parts."
"Cam, you can do it." Leah said.
"You sure?" Cam asked leaning on his guitar "if I do the solos you have to sing."
"I'm okay with that." Leah cracked her knuckles.
"Alright." He said
"Mr. C , Cam's gonna do the solos."
"Alright then, let's get started then."
TJ pulled the bass over his shoulder and played the first note. Peter twirled the drumstick in between his left index and middle finger. "One, two, one two three."
*On three all of them played the first note and kept playing. Leah wasn't playing normal chords, she was playing power chords, making the strings she wasn't holding down(the higher ones) not play so it sounded lower. Leah realized that Cam and TJ's voices blended really well. As the guitar died down to just Leah and her guitar. She had gotten the hang of the four power chords rather quickly, and she already knew most of the words. During the second verse, when she sang "I hope its gonna make you notice" on the word "Notice" her voice cracked upwards both times, making Leah laugh awkwardly. Other than that the song sounded good, and before they knew it class was over.
. . .
At lunch Leah sat with Cam, Grace, and Mackenzie. They mainly talked about their classes and how excited they were for the shows. A few minutes later, Kyle sat down with another boy. He had dark brown eyes and hair that was so dark it was almost black. His hair was pushed back, revealing his large forehead, and tucked under a hat that was backwards.
"Hey Kyle." Mack said as he sat down.
"Hey guys, this is Brendon, he's in class with me."
Brendon smiled and nodded a bit. "Hey. So Cam, Leah, you guys are in the other band correct?"
Leah smiled and nodded. "Nice," Brendon said "I can't wait to see what songs you guys picked."
"So, what do you play?" Cam asked
"Bass, Guitar, Piano, Drums, and Vocals." Brendon answered
"Dude same." Cam laughed.
The six of them walked back to the dorms together, and went to their rooms for down time. When Leah walked into her room she saw a girl moving in. "Hi, are you my roommate?" Leah asked.
"yeah, hi, my name's Colleen."
"Well nice to meet you, what class are you in."
"Theater, how 'bout you?"
"Battle of the Bands."
"Oh, cool! What do you play?"
"Guitar, and Vocals."
"Nice."
Leah used the rest of downtime and the beginning of Rec to talk to Colleen. Then Leah went to Cam and Kyle's room like they had planned to during lunch.
