28. Bohemian RhapsodyLeah almost became over whelmed until she realized it was color coded. Highspeed Highway's songs were highlighted in pink, and August Rain's were highlighted in blue. That made life ten times easier.
Leah plugged her guitar into the better amp and strummed a few power cords for The (After) Life Of The Party. Even though she was singing that one she still had to play guitar. "Okay, you guys ready to run through this?" Mr. C asked
"Yeah, I think so."
"Alright, give it all you got."
. . .
After both Highspeed Highway and August Rain ran through their sets, everyone got their band shirts and rushed to put them on. The guys just whipped off their shirts and threw the new one on, and Leah went into the bathroom to change. She looked at herself on the mirror. She loved how she looked. She walked out of the bathroom and into the caffiteria again.
"Shit dude I can already hear people out there." Brendon said.
"Fuck I'm scared." Kyle muttered.
"Hey Leah, can I talk to you for a sec?" Cam asked.
"Yeah, sure." Cam led Leah over away from the others and into the hall. "So you know the semi formal dance on Thursday?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"You wanna go with me?"
"Sure, Cam. I'd love to."
"Awesome." He paused. "Hey, don't be nervous, you're gonna be great out there. Just remember, Brendon and Kyle are our competitors and we're friends, so if you need some support, they're back there."
Leah nodded. "Yeah, thanks Cam." She walked back into the caffiteria. "We gotta get this show on the road Rich." Mr. Miles said. "The auditorium's already full."
"Okay, you wanna go out and give a little intro?" Mr. C asked.
"Yeah, c'mon kids, follow us."
Highspeed Highway and August Rain followed Mr. C and Mr. Miles out into the wings. There they were told to wait. Mr. C and Mr. Miles walked out onto stage and started their speech.
"I'm Mr. C and this is Mr. Miles. We are the instructors for the Battle of the Bands classes, and for the parents in the audience, we've thoroughly enjoyed teaching your kids and becoming sort of a small family. We're sure you'll enjoy seeing your kid's performances tonight and voting for the band you think should win. The two bands are Highspeed Highway, and August Rain. "Mr. C said.
Mr. Miles began to talk now. "You've all been handed a ballot along with a program. You just circle the band you want to win and drop it in the box before you leave. The first band up is my kids, Highspeed Highway." The auditorium filled with cheers as Mr. C and Mr. Miles left stage and Highspeed Highway entered. The battle had begun.
