"Are we going outside or inside?" Eliza asked.
"We're splitting up. Text or scream if you are in danger." I said seriously. My plan had to work. Well, the one I wasn't telling them.
"Are you sure?" Peggy asked.
"Positive." I answered. My sisters ran in opposite directions.
I ducked into a nearby hallway, gasping for breath. I heard the footsteps that had to be from Charles. To heavy to be my sisters'.
I stepped into the hallway, in front of Charles.
"Angie, why you running from me?" Charles asked.
"Charles, I've said this before, and I'll say it again," I breathed. "I'm not interested in being your girlfriend anymore."
"Why not?"
"I don't... I don't feel anything, Charles. I just feel like we're too different. We can't connect. This just isn't right." That was the nice way of putting it.
"I think we're fine." Charles responded.
I tried to think of what to say next, to buy time for my sisters. Charles didn't let me think.
My arm was suddenly throbbing, and it took everything in me not to cry out in pain. But when I felt a blow to my face, I did cry out. I turned around and tried to run, not sure what was going to happen to me.
