It was Monday and I was nervous, after everything that happened yesterday, would Arsen still be talking to me today? He said he would, but what if he panicked after he left and now he plans to ignore me.
I groaned and wiped the sleep out of my eyes, staring at myself in the bathroom mirror. Arsen kept me out way too late last night and when he dropped me off, I was too wired to get any sleep. I tied my hair up in a pony tail and went to walk out of the bathroom.
Felicity was behind the door, about to walk into the bathroom.
"Sorry," I sleepily mumbled. "I didn't know you were there."
She didn't answer, instead Felicity moved my shirt out of the way of my neck, moving in closer to get a closer look at it.
"What are you doing?" I asked, moving away from her.
Felicity moved with me and grabbed my shirt again. "Is that a hickey?" She yelled.
I hissed at her to shut up and yanked her into the bathroom. What was she talking about, a hickey? I moved my shirt to the side and stared at the base of my neck where a dark-purplish bruise now resided.
"Crap, mom's going to kill me!" I muttered, reaching for Felicity's foundation.
Felicity slapped my hand out of the way. "It's going to take a lot more than foundation to cover that up!"
I groaned. "Please help me, what do I do?"
She shrugged. "Look's like it's going to have to be a scarf day."
"It's September." I deadpanned.
"It's not my fault you got a hickey."
I made a face and left the bathroom, going into my room and pulling a scarf out of my closet. Chase yelled from downstairs that we would all be late if we didn't hurry. Grabbing my bag and my phone, I jogged out of my room and down the stairs.
"Why are you wearing a scarf?" Chase asked, when we got in the car.
"Why is your hair brown?" I snapped.
I instantly felt bad when his face fell but I wasn't ready to tell him about Arsen. If I told him I had a hickey he would know, I know he would. I was surprised that Felicity hadn't asked who gave me the hickey.
"I'm sorry." I told my brother. "I promise I'll explain the scarf later."
Chase nodded but didn't reply. He backed out of the driveway and started the drive to school. Jules sat in the back, blabbing about God-knows-what and I am pretty sure we were all droning him out right now. I loved my little brother, but he talks too much.
We pulled into a parking place at school and I hopped out, telling everyone I would see them later, and jogging towards the school. Arsen stood in the exact place I saw him on the first day with his back propped against the wall and a cigarette in his left hand. I couldn't help but smile when I saw him, he just made me happy.
He looked up from his phone as I approached, a small smirk on his face when he realized it was me. I stopped a couple feet away from him and waved, suddenly feeling awkward.
"What are you doing over there?" He asked me, cocking his head to the side.
I glanced around me. "Over where?"
Arsen grinned and held a hand out to me. "Come here."
I stepped closer to him and he threaded his fingers into my belt loops, pulling me close enough so that he could lean down and press a kiss to my lips. I was surprised at first, his mouth tasted even more like an ashtray than it did last night and I couldn't help but pull away after a second.
