Felicity and I stood outside of Claire's hospital room. She only allowed Chase in the room with her and even her parents have to wait outside.
I clung onto a cup of coffee, welcoming the warmth and energy it gave me. Without it I was sure I'd be laying down with Jules in one of the waiting room chairs, or sitting against the wall and banging my head against it.
"I can't believe this is happening." Felicity said, taking a sip of her own cup of coffee, making a face afterwards. "This sucks." She muttered, staring down at the cup in disgust.
I nodded. "It suddenly feels a lot more real than it did yesterday... you know, you could stop drinking the coffee."
"Chase is going to have a baby." My sister mumbled, ignoring my comment about her coffee, her eyes widening as if this fact were just hitting her. "I always assumed something like this would happen. I wish I had taken that bet with Jules a few years back. I would have been 20 dollars richer right now."
I chuckled and tossed my coffee in the garbage. Unfortunately for me, someone decided to walk in front of the garbage as I did it. The flimsy coffee cup hit one of the nurses right in the side and it broke open, spilling the lukewarm contents all over his side.
It looked like it happened in slow motion and I watched in horror as it did. "I am so sorry!" I exclaimed, looking around for something to wipe him off with.
The nurse laughed and turned to inspect the damage I did to his scrubs. It dripped from his side all the way down to the floor. "Don't worry about it." He said with an easygoing- but tired- smile. "I'm just happy it wasn't hot."
"I can't believe I just did that!" I finally got my hands on a towel and handed it to him. "I'm so sorry." I mumbled again.
The nurse smiled at me again and I couldn't help but notice how attractive he was. Sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, and a gorgeous smile. Felicity had to nudge me to snap me out of my daze. My cheeks reddened, embarrassed that I had shamelessly and openly stared at this man.
The nurse stuck out his hand to me. "I'm Liam."
I shook his hand. "Amelia."
"It's nice to meet you, unfortunately though, I have to get back to work."
I nodded. "Of course, I really am sorry, again." I could feel my cheeks getting hot and knew they were reddening. I can't believe out of everyone in the hospital, I managed to spill coffee on the attractive one.
"I'm a nurse." He shrugged. "I'm just happy it's not blood or some other bodily fluid."
He headed to Chase and Claire's room and I had to stop him again.
"Wait!" I called, making him turn around. "Are you Claire's nurse?"
He nodded. "I'm assisting the birth."
"Can you tell me what's going on?" I asked. "We're the baby's aunt's and we haven't heard anything for hours."
"Everything is going well, she's almost ready to start pushing." Liam grinned. "Although the boyfriend looks like he want's to vomit."
I chuckled. "Stay away from him then, otherwise you will be covered in bodily fluids."
"Will do." He laughed in response. "I'll see you after the birth."
When he disappeared behind the door I turned to my sister, who was watching me with a knowing look on her face.
"I'm in trouble." I told her. "He could be covered head to toe in vomit and blood and still be gorgeous."
My sister rolled her eyes. "He looks like he's thirty!"
"He does not!" I defended. "He's probably... twenty-five?" My tone was questionable.
