It was Friday night and I was getting ready for my date with Liam. He is taking me to dinner and while he wouldn't tell me where we were going he did tell me to dress nice and to be hungry when he picked me up.
My older sister Meredith came into town early this morning. She had time off of classes and rushed home to meet her new niece. When she heard about my date, she was quick to help me get ready. I didn't mind her treating me like her very own dress up doll, I missed my sister. We have always been pretty close and it's still hard to get used to her being in college.
I pulled at the hem of the dress she made me wear. It was bit shorter than I was used to, coming quite a few inches above my knee. "You don't think this dress is to short? I don't want him to think I'm easy."
Meredith waved me off before grabbing my face and holding it in one place. She has been attempting to apply mascara to my eyelashes for at least ten minutes now. I wasn't the easiest to deal with, I hated things being in or around my eyes. She tried to put fake eyelashes on me and I had to throw a mini tantrum before she gave up. "You don't look easy, you look hot." My sister said, swiping one last layer of mascara on my lashes and straightening up. "Your sexy nurse won't be able to keep his hands off of you."
"He better try!" Chase grumbled from my bed, his daughter had fallen asleep in his arms and if he moved she would wake up and throw a fit. "If he can't keep his hands off of you on the first date, he only wants one thing from you. I just hope you are smart enough to tell him no."
"Oh calm down." Meredith rolled her eyes. "You're hardly the person to preach to her about celibacy."
"Who better to teach her than someone with my experience?" Chase challenged, smirking at our older sister.
"Maybe someone who knows how to properly use a condom." Meredith grinned, knowing she had won.
It was Chase's turn to roll his eyes. "I know how they work."
Meredith raised an eyebrow and threw a pointed look at Delilah. "Sure." She said, sarcastically.
"Condom's break and mistakes happen." Chase shrugged. "It's the luck of the draw."
"The amount of alcohol you consume also plays a big part." I threw in, reminding Chase of what else happened that fateful day Delilah was conceived. "I thought you liked Liam? Yesterday you said if I didn't marry him, you would."
Meredith laughed. "Now I see why he's so grumpy, you're stealing his man."
"I'm feeling really attacked right now." Chase mumbled, kissing Delilah on her bald head.
The doorbell rang and I stood up to go get it, only to be pushed back down by Meredith. "I'll get it!" She exclaimed, jogging out of my room. "You need a big entrance!" She called over her shoulder.
Meredith's yelling woke Delilah. "Shit." Chase mumbled, standing up and trying to silence his daughters whimpers. "Good job Mere!" He called after our sister.
Meredith returned moments later, looking confused. "There's a really hot guy at the door, but he doesn't look like Liam." She said. "Unless he suddenly dyed his hair brown?"
I got up and went to the door, pulling it open, and nearly falling over in shock. "Ashton?" I said after a minute, it took me a while to remember how to use my mouth.
"Hey," he said, smiling slightly. "Sorry to barge in. I was in the area and thought, hey, why not stop and visit my old friend Amelia?"
"Thats... nice Ashton, but now really isn't a great time..." I mumbled, stepping out of the way as he pushed inside anyway. "What can I do for you?"
