Sorry guys! I know this has been a long time coming. I had some personal issues come up but, I didn't forget about Arsen.
Thanks for all the support xx
AMELIA'S POV
The ride home was different then the ride here. It wasn't just that Taylor sat beside me this time around, there was something in the air. Everyone seemed to know what had happened in that office except for me and no one seemed keen to let me in on the big secret. I felt uneasy, something was very wrong. Arsen hasn't looked at me since we left and it made my stomach twist into knots.
Was he planning on leaving me again?
I glanced over at Taylor. She hasn't said a word since she got in the car, but her and Ashton kept stealing glances at each other in the rear view mirror. Something happened between them. Something changed. I still felt bad that Barron practically forced her against her will to come back with us.
It's not like we were in the 'good old days' where women were treated like property and traded for pigs or cattle.
Then again, maybe we were. I knew nothing about this life and the usually feisty Taylor hadn't even tried to argue with Barron when he announced Taylors 'relocation'. In fact, Ashton and Arsen hardly put up a fight either. The two men that had most people on edge back home didn't say a word.
The other difference in the ride back home was the shiny, expensive-looking, black Range Rover that had been tailing us for the past couple hours. I had asked about it many times, only to be ignored. It seemed no matter how many times I kicked Arsen's seat, my questions were only met with silence.
My phone rang, the loud jingle cutting through the silence like a knife. We all jumped at the sound and when I peered down at the screen, my breath caught in my throat when I saw that it was Chase. For a second I debated if it was a good idea to answer. It didn't take me long to remember Damon, Arsen's dad, and the treat he held over my family.
"Hello?" I hesitantly answered.
"How was the funeral?" Chase asked.
I could tell by his voice that he knew there wasn't a funeral.
"It was fine." I lied, knowing it was futile. "Really sad."
"What was his name again?" Chase asked, and I started to panic. For the life of me, I could not remember the name I had given Chase.
Before I could answer, Chase continued. "Rebecca came over." He told me.
"She did?" I squeaked.
"Are you crazy?" Chase hissed. "Is he really worth all of this?"
"Chase, I need you to trust me."
But my brother continued. "Trust you?" He yelled.
"They came to me!" I yelled. "Ashton and Arsen came back to me to warn me. They are trying to keep us all safe, so stop screaming at me and just trust that we are handling this!"
Silence is the only answer I seemed to be getting today. I groaned. "Chase I'm your sister, not a stranger. Please trust me, I'm safe, and I swear I'll go to the ends of the earth to make sure you guys are too."
