I woke up to no one near me but my puppy. Joker must have brought him up here because the stairs are too much for the little guys legs. Last night was peaceful. It's been long since I've slept like that and I wish that he would come back to me. Everything felt different.
There was a reason he left sometime and I'd like to know. Is it because the feud had to go on? Whatever the reason was, I felt a little empty. For the first time in a really long time, we had spoken to each other civilly and had moments of passion. It wasn't all hate and revenge and I loved that. He smelled the same. Gun powder and a sweet smell I've still yet to put my finger on to this day. I wanted more of it. Even if he got sweaty and too hot for me to be all over him, I always wanted more and more.
I decided to go to the bathroom and then realized the puppy had gotten up. Guess I should take him out to do his stuff too, huh? "Let's go, Loki! We've got to get you potty trained!" I grabbed him and took him downstairs. My sleep shorts and sports bra weren't exactly the right outfit to go outside in but it's not like anyone knew where I lived. Really this place shouldn't even be lived on but I know my people and can do my thing and now it's my lovely home.
Loki was on his leash and walking around when I heard a sound behind me. I quickly got my gun out and pointed around me. No one was there and it started to scare me. I kept my gun pointed out and then the person crept around the corner. "What the fuck are you doing here, J? You do realize I was just about to kill you?" Of course he didn't care as he laughed. I lit up a cigarette and he walked over to me.
"You couldn't hurt a fly. Now while you weren't paying attention to your puppy, he already pooped and peed. Let's go in. No one needs to see you in your bra." His hand went to my arm and I rolled my eyes. We walked in and I went to the kitchen area.
"Why are you here?" I started pouring a bowl of cereal and then poured some food for Loki. Joker was sitting on my couch and looking around. He acts as though he hasn't been to my house. The sight was actually quite funny.
I sat down on the couch next to him and he looked at me. "We can't hang out? Why are you so against me? This should be fun, Maya!" His voice was sarcastic and it made me miss all of his crazy acts he does. The television I had wasn't too much but it was enough. All I could watch was Netflix.
This didn't seem too great for Joker, being his favourite show was the News channel. "Well, what exactly are you here for? Don't play games with me, Joker." He took in my seriousness and rolled his eyes, his mouth slightly open. I put my bowl on the table and waited for him to answer.
"I want you back." There was a moment of silence before he laughed. "I'm just joking around. But I do want you to help me with killing someone." That made more sense. Joker wasn't going to give up this easily. We've only been around each other like the old days for just one day. There was no way he, a man who kills for a living and finds it funny, would come crawling back for love.
Unfortunately, I wasn't going to crawl back for a partner. That's the reason I left in the first place. "Joker, you do know why I left right?" This comment caused him to grow stiff and he nodded. "So why do you want to risk anything bad happening to either one of us?" It was a question that needed answering.
Joker stood up and scratched his head. "If you don't want the job then just say so. It was a yes or no answer." He became very angry with me and defensive by all accounts. This only made me angry as well because it was unnecessary. I shot up too and went towards him, getting in his face.
"Listen, Joker, I'm not going to beat around the bush. If I get hurt because your crazy little friends try to kill me, of course I'm going to be a little hesitant about coming back." We were in each other's faces and he was breathing heavily.
His face was full of rage and he bit his lip. "I'm asking for one favour. Do you realize that I don't ask for favours from anyone?" There was no reason for him to be acting this way. This was the crazy side of him that annoyed me.
I stood still, my arms crossed, and looked at him. It only made him more angry as he threw his arms up and yelled out. "You make me so angry!" Really, it wouldn't hurt to do one little favour for him since he asked so nicely. My eyes rolled and I walked up the stairs.
Footsteps behind me let me know that he was following. "So, now you leave once again. You're not even going to try for me?" No, my love, I'm just not going to talk to you until you calm your shit.
I opened my closet and got out my new suit. It was black and still leather. Much like Selina's but better. I've got more things to add to my belt and my face wouldn't be covered. The hands weren't covered also so that was a plus. The same guy who made hers, made mine. A while back she had told me about him and of course I would look into it one day, even if that one day was years later.
When I pulled it out and started putting it on, Joker got quiet and watched me. I walked to the closet again and started loading up my belt and putting on my earpiece and eyepiece. Once I was done and situated, I looked at him. "Are you done pitching a fucking fit?" He couldn't kill me but his looks could. I laughed it off and ran down the stairs
"Yes I'm done. Thank you, Maya." To say he was more embarrassed than angry at me could actually be true. We got into the car and started to drive off. Henchmen were in the back of the car and I got my eyes towards Todd. I sent a little head nod at him and he did the same. It's nice to see an old friend.
"Okay so, there's this man that has been killing my henchmen. I know where he is but I don't know how to get in. He's in a business building." I nodded my head and asked for the building number and when it popped up, I started hacking into everything.
Joker continued driving but looked at me every once in a while. The building was harder to hack into but I calmed down when I felt Jokers hand on my knee. My eyes looked longingly towards him and I shot him a smile. Finally, I got into the system. "Now, once you get into the building, I'll be watching you through the cameras. When you come to a door or elevator, it will automatically become unlocked or opened and you'll be able to go in. If I want you to go another way then you will use this earpiece so I can communicate." I handed him one and he put it on his ear.
The car stopped and I looked at him as I switched to the back to be hidden. "Joker, noticed that I said I can communicate. You can't say anything because this place is pretty packed of security. You're supposed to be on the move fast and shoot at anyone who comes in your way. There's no point of a sneak attack if they can hear you talking to no one. Remember, I'm your eyes and ears. Good luck!" The smile on his lips grew and he started to lean towards me but decided not to. His face went hard and he slammed the door.
It's go time.
