I woke up due to her shifting in my arms. “Where are you going?” I mumbled, eyes still closed.
“To shower?” She said, her voice containing a little playfulness to it.
“Without me?” I joked, but released her from my arms.
“You could come if you want.” She said, and I opened my eyes to meet her green ones and smiled.
“I don’t think so, love. Go on, I’ll see you when you get out.”
“You care too much about me.” She said with a laugh.
“Not my fault you deserve to be cared for.” I said and watched as she got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom
I thought back to her boyfriend who had more or less forced her into sex. I never wanted to do that to her. It’s not that she hadn’t said things like that or done things that invited me to move forward into that area, I just didn’t want to be that person. I wanted Erica to know what she wanted and when she wanted it, I didn’t want it to just be because she thought it was what I wanted or a spur of the moment decision.
I closed my eyes and was dozing off when Erica came back into the room. She crawled into bed and I slowly opened my eyes. She was leaning over me, her damp hair falling around us like a curtain and her striking green eyes meeting mine.
She kissed me lightly and said, “Hurry up and take a shower. You have to have lunch with my dad and I and then we are having dinner with Link and everyone.”
I frowned. “I’m tired.”
She laughed quietly. “Come on, you have to get ready.”
“Alright, alright.” I groaned and sat up. “You’re lucky I love you.” I grumbled.
She chuckled. “I am. Now hurry up, we have to get dressed.”
I looked at her t-shirt and jeans. “Aren’t you dressed?”
She rolled her eyes. “It’s Thanksgiving, you have to look nice.”
“Since when?”
“Since now. Now hurry up!” She laughed and helped pull me out of bed. She was so excited, it was insane. I didn’t get this excited about Thanksgiving, I liked it, but I was more of a Christmas person myself.
I showered and did my hair, I didn’t bother putting anything else on except a pair of boxers and my bra since I’d have to change again anyways. I wrapped a towel around my waist, it’s not like she hadn’t seen me in my bra before, and walked back out into the bedroom.
Erica wasn’t facing me, but she started talking when she heard the door open about what I’d be wearing. “I was thinking you could wear your gray dress shirt and your blue prodigy bowtie, what do you think?” She turned around, holding the tie in her hands, but stopped when she saw me.
I saw her swallow and her eyes trail along my body and I chuckled quietly. “You alright there?”
“I thought…clothes.”
