Broken Shell

A girl
Hiding her true colors
Inside a clam lies a pearl
Acting her life out
But all she sees is doubt

Urging herself to fit in
But her puzzle piece doesn't always fit
They end when she is ready to begin
Unwanted and alone
Her soul is the only thing left to loan

A boy
Strolling the world
But he was his own decoy
Talking the talk
But not walking the walk

The shoes don't make the man
The confidence does
But he was really never part of the clan
They humiliated him
They ruined him

One day, the girl and the boy
Banded together to stand up against
The people who mean to destroy
Their confidence no longer smothered,
They realized they needed each other

This is one of my older poems I've written.  I think I wrote it earlier this year or something, but I remembered I had never finished it and I really loved the idea!
