The Flames

I am trapped in a forest

The flames are consuming the trees

And soon, and soon

They will consume me

If I could only escape

Through an escape pod

But with one click of a button

Your life can change forever

A few of the trees

Are so badly burnt that there is no hope

And some others I had grown

Very fond of

One of the trees had been around forever

The most magnificent sight

Now the fire works its way up

The trunk of the one I couldn't bear to lose

Very soon the fire will destroy everything

Including myself

No matter how much I pray

No matter what I do

There is no easy way out

Of the fiery forest

The branches raining down

Like a bunch of knives

One branch hits my chest so hard

And I believe my time to be over

I had done nothing but nurture the trees

Watering them every day

Now nature was striking back at me

The internal fire inside of me

Raged on and on

I was telling all my memories goodbye

The good and the bad

I was losing it all

I watched the flames eat up

The rest of my beautiful forest

I would miss some trees

And others I could care less about

I ran away from the unstoppable monster

All those good memories, tarnished

All the bad memories, tarnished

Everything I'd grown to know, gone

Everything comes at a cost

Are you willing to pay for it

Even if sometimes

It isn't even your fault
