I can stay up all night
In the clutches of my books
Not caring that life is passing me by
Not giving me a second look
I can pour my heart and soul
Into one stupid test
To have it crushed in the end
Just like the rest
I can try to study
So I can at least pass
But now I realize there are just some
Things that you can't learn in a class

If I fall below an A
I will always rise above
But can someone please teach me
How to love?
I try and I fail
Getting an F for effort
But at least I have enough energy
To help people when they're hurt
My lowest grade is too low
I'm afraid of anything less than perfection
In fact, I AM the definition of perfect
Why should I show affection?
I stayed up all night
For something I already knew
But aren't you going to give me
A grade on my personality, too?
I love numbers
I love reading stocks
But can someone teach me
How to think outside of the box?
I have confidence in myself
Despite my IQ
But aren't you going to give me
A grade on my spirit, too?
I'm up all night and asleep all day
To make sure I succeed on the quiz
But can someone please explain
What creativity is?
I hate standardized tests
On my math exam I got a two
But aren't you going to give me a grade
On my personal relations, too?
When I'm stumped I turn to Google
I must be their top consumer
But they don't have all the answers
What even is a sense of humor?
People call me dumb
And treat like I'm the animal in a zoo
But aren't you going to give me a grade
On my heart, too?
I want to create a better future
One where everyone is smart
Advanced and simple
And definitely no colorful art

What happens in the future
Doesn't even need to be in my control
You can grade my work
But never my soul.
