Chapter Eight
Darius sat at the kitchen table with a cup of tea in front of him. He was a striking man who looked in his mid-20s. He had spiky, blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. Liana could see the bulging muscles underneath his black t-shirt and his ripped jeans made him look youthful which confused Liana because he was around 500 years old.
Flora, Tyler and Marcus had all appeared and by the looks on their faces, they were well aware of who this man was.
“So, Mum, could you tell me how you know this man,” Liana finally said, breaking the silence.
“Go on. She already knows about vampires,” Darius spoke which made both Liana and her Mum’s eyes widen in surprise,
“You know about vampires?” Liana asked while her Mum said,
“You do?” Liana decided to answer first,
“Yes I do. Acario is a vampire. How do you know about vampires? How long have you known?”
“Now Liana, I am about to tell you something that will be very hard to digest. Please don’t get upset.” Liana sat down in her chair and prepared herself for the worst. “Before I met your-” She cut herself off, “Before I met Brian, I met Darius,” Liana didn’t like where this was going, “We dated for a little while but when I found out he was a vampire, I ran away but I was already pregnant with you. Liana, Darius is your real father.” Liana’s Mum had tears in her eyes but Liana didn’t care, she was in shock. Her real father was sitting in front of her?
“When were you going to tell me?” She asked in a calm voice, although she felt anything but inside, “Or were you never going to tell me? Let me live my life of lies.” Liana knew she was hurting her Mum but she was hurting herself. If Darius hadn’t have shown up, would her Mum have ever told her?
“Liana,” Acario placed a hand on her shoulder but she shrugged it off, feeling the anger start to rise,
“Liana, I was just waiting for the right time,” Her Mum spoke with tears running down her face,
“Yeah sure you were.”
“Liana, do not speak to your mother like that,” It was Darius. Liana shot a glare at him,
“You can’t tell me what to do-I don’t even know who you are!” With that she stormed to her room, slammed the door then jumped out the window and ran into the forest. Flora, Tyler and Marcus stayed with her as she ran but she yelled at them to go away so they quickly disappeared. Stray branches scratched her face as she ran by but she didn’t feel it, instead she just blocked everything out. Liana didn’t know how long she ran for but soon she was exhausted and lying on the ground, trying to concentrate on the soft earthy bed beneath her but instead her thoughts came creeping back until she was a great sobbing mess.
“Liana,” Liana turned away from him but she knew it was Acario. He wrapped her in his arms and rocked her slightly as she sobbed. “Let it all out,” He whispered in her ear. Liana greatly appreciated the company and soon her sobs died down until finally only a few stray tears were left. Liana was exhausted and all she wanted to do now was sleep,
