Chapter Twelve

“So who are you?” Liana, the man with the stake (although he had it in his bag now) and Acario were sitting around Liana’s dining room table, each with a cup of tea in front of them. Acario had arrived soon after the man had staked the vampire and he closed her wound by licking it because apparently vampire saliva acts as a healing property to close up the wounds. The man then invited himself back to the house to explain everything, which is why they were all seated there now.

Liana studied the man from across the table. He had shoulder length brown hair, kind brown eyes, full lips and a slightly large nose. His complexion was tanned and his black t-shirt barely contained his bulging muscles. Liana was startled out of her thoughts as he started speaking,

“Ok, my name is Brody and I am a vampire hunter,” He stated. Liana could feel Acario tense up next to her and Brody must have noticed it too, “Don’t worry, I only hunt bad vampires.” He smiled at Acario,

“You can tell?” Liana questioned, quite surprised.

“Oh yes. I can’t see ghosts like you but I can see the blackness that surrounds bad vampires. Your boyfriend here doesn’t have that so he’s safe,” She couldn’t help but blush at the comment of Acario being her boyfriend.

She cleared her throat, “So how exactly did you become a vampire hunter?”

“It’s a family trade I guess you would say. My ancestors started it and every generation since then have become vampire hunters. You know Dracula?” Liana nodded, “Well my ancestors were the ones who hunted him; it’s how it all started. Of course, they were amateurs but over the years we have honed our skills and are now excellent hunters. Of course, it’s not only my family but instead many families all over the world who dedicate their lives to hunting the bad vampires.”

“Ok, I find it great that you won’t go after Acario but I was just wondering why you don’t hunt all vampires. Why just the bad ones?”

Brody took a sip from his cup, “Well, Liana, the good ones only take a mouthful of blood every few days, right? So they aren’t really harming anyone and that is what matters to us. The bad vampires drink more than they should or terrorise their victims so that needs to be stopped. We are just looking out for human kind.” It was at that moment that Liana decided she liked Brody,

“Ok I understand. So are you always in this town? I’m not really an expert but I didn’t really think that there were many vampires lurking around this town,”

“You’re right, there isn’t. Well there wasn’t.” Liana gave him a puzzled look, “Because of you, there have been an influx of bad vampires, coming to try and get your blood. Of course we can’t let them do that because it will be rather difficult to kill them after they receive your powers.”

“Why? It doesn’t make them invincible right?” This time it was Acario to ask. He was studying Brody carefully, trying to figure out if this man was trust worthy or not.

“No but with the control of the unknowns in their hands, they could attack us easily without ever putting themselves in danger.”
