Chapter Sixteen

Liana stood in the clearing, staring at her surroundings in awe. They were standing on the edge of a forest where there was a small clearing along with a river and a small waterfall.

“I didn’t even know a place like this existed!”

Acario smiled at her, “I thought you’d like it. I found it the first week I was here and I showed it to Darius. He was the one who thought this would be a great training ground for you,”

“That’s right,” Liana spun around to find Darius standing at the edge of the forest, “Nature will restore any energy you lose,” He moved closer to them, “So, Liana, do you feel any different?”

“Yes. I feel lighter and ever since I woke up I’ve had this kind of murmuring in my head. Other than that, I feel quite normal.”

“The murmuring will be the thoughts of other people. If you concentrate then you will be able to hear them. You could also place your own thoughts in there if you so wished.” Liana felt surprised by this information. She knew she was going to gain telepathic abilities but she didn’t realise exactly what that entailed.

“Ok so what training are we going to start with?” She questioned, trying not to panic.

“Speed,” Darius replied, smiling.

“Speed?” Liana wracked her brains, “You didn’t say anything about speed.”

“Well it comes under the title of strength. Now do you want to start or just keep talking?”

She had to suppress a glare, “Let’s get started.”

“Ok. See that tree over there?” He pointed to a tree about one hundred metres away, “I want you to run to it, except I don’t want you to run like normal. No. I want you to concentrate on that tree very hard and then I want you to run towards it,”

Liana nodded and then concentrated very hard. She then ran straight towards it and reached her destination faster than she could have believed and in that moment of shock, she lost her concentration and ran straight INTO the tree. In a second Acario and Darius were standing above her, both obviously trying not to laugh whilst Tyler and Flora were openly laughing.

Acario gave her a hand up, “Are you ok?”

“I just hit a tree at a crazy speed, what do you think?” She replied, rubbing her forehead.

“I probably should have had you concentrate on the spot before the tree. You did very well for your first time though. While you still get used to your powers, you will only be able to run that fast to places you can see but eventually you’ll be able to do it naturally and run very long distances without needing a destination in mind. Now let’s move onto your strength training,” And that was how her day continued. Darius taught her how to use her powers and how to block them. Not once did she tire and Darius explained that her body absorbed the energy from nature.
