Chapter Seventeen

The choice wasn’t hard for Liana but it was for Acario.

He grabbed her arm, “Please, don’t go,” He begged. The vulnerability in his voice almost made her stay. Almost.

“Don’t worry little vampire boyfriend, I’ll take very good care of her,” He winked at Acario and before she knew what was happening, Brett was lying on the floor and the vampire held her in his arms while Acario had a solid grip on his arm, “Chill vampire boyfriend, I’m not going to kill her unless you don’t release me.”

He reluctantly loosened his grip, “What are you going to do with her?”

“Nothing she doesn’t want to,” He pulled out a silver chain, draped it around her neck and then started running. Ever since she was a child, Liana had been allergic to silver. If she ever wore it, all her energy would leave her body and sometimes she would even faint. The ring which Darius had given her was also silver but she didn’t have the heart to tell him that she could never wear it.

Liana felt her energy drain from her body and found it hard to keep her eyes open. She could feel her energy draining away and soon found herself in the darkness of unconsciousness.

“Wake up pretty Halfling,” Liana’s eyes fluttered open to find the silver chain was gone and they were outside a wooden two story house located in the middle of nowhere, it seemed. There was nothing but woods surrounding them.

“Welcome to my home. I hope you enjoy the stay,” He grinned but as soon as he let her go, she ran. Only she couldn’t get far before he caught up with her, “Oh, looks like you’ve been training Halfling but you’re still inexperienced so don’t even try escaping. Come on, you must be tired,” He kept a hold of her arm as he lead her into the house.

The house was rather large and as you walked into the door you were faced with a staircase. To the left was a dining room and to the right was the lounge. From what she could see, she guessed the kitchen was ahead, behind the stairs.

“Your room is upstairs. I’ve been preparing for your arrival, I hope you like what I’ve done with it,” He took her upstairs and all she could see was a hallway with many doors. He led her to the last door on the left side of the hallway.

Liana gasped as he opened it to reveal a beautiful, spacious room. The windows were facing towards the forest and were floor length which would have opened up onto the balcony, if it not for the steel bars. The bed sat to the left, a decent queen size with blood red sheets and a black duvet.

In the corner, behind the door, there was a bathroom which had a decent sized tub with a Jacuzzi, a shower and an almost wall length vanity unit. On the final wall was a bookshelf full of books, a desk with a laptop and some writing equipment. She looked up at the vampire, puzzled. Why did he give her such a nice room instead of just throwing her into a dungeon?

As if he could read her mind, he smiled, “I’m not a bad guy, Liana. I want to make sure you’re comfortable. You’re able to contact your friends because I know you won’t be able to tell them where you are since you were out for the most part of the journey. Also, this place is under protection so your guardians won’t be able to enter. Only Angels are allowed in and we both know that they can’t do a thing. Now, you should get some sleep, you’ve had a big day. There’s some clothes in the closet. Goodnight, Liana,” And with that he shut the door and she could hear the distinct sound of a lock.
